Sled: 2006 700 classic
OK so i just bought this sled it had been starting great with the electric start went for a ride shut it off for three min when to turn the key and it spun very slowly i pulled started it and the battery gauge showed full. it now spins almost not at all. would this just be a bad battery?

Sounds like a good place to start checking... sounds like its not holding a charge any more. If you have one, hook up a "jumper box" to the battery like you use to jump start your car battery... If it wont turn over normally with that, then you know you will need to have a look at the starter itself. :beer;

They had some problems with the starter binding. There was a Team Tip S-07-03-03 for for this issue. To repair it Polaris came up with a longer set screw and jam nut to keep the shaft from binding. The set screw part# is 7518809 and the jam nut is 7542432. You will have to remove the starter,remove the set screw in the end of the starter, install the new set screw, tighten untill the set screw just bottoms out and back it off 1/4 turn and then tighten jam nut to 38 ft lbs. Reinstall starter.

did they have this problem with the 02 touring classic 600 aswell? this sounds like what my buddies dads sled is doing and we cant figure out why

No totally different starter. On a 02 I would suspect the starter motor is worn out.

ok thanks i will let him know that....can they be rebuilt? it just seems to bind every once and awhile...(sorry wont hijack anymore)

Dont think they can be rebuilt. Check the bendix on the end of the starter, they wear out and are replacable.

put the battery charger on it and she fired right off. went to my dealer they said it is a sealed battery and like $106 but they have a non sealed for $69 that should work. any input?

a sealed battery just means it wont leak fluid..its more of the gel cell type..

the non-sealed are like standard batteries in a car..will work fine fo ryour application..just check for a warranty..

if they dont offer you any warranty...go to an auto parts store or even walmart and try to cross-reference the battery to their brand and get one with a warranty...

but $69 is a pretty fair price if you dont get any other
