How much weight does electric start add to a polaris dragon 800, I think its an 08 with a 155 track. thanks

I would bet its more than 10 pounds..... what does the battery itself weigh?

Most sled starting systems are close to 20 pounds complete.

Those that love 'em could care less about the weight.

And those that care about every pound wouldn't have one even if it weighed 6 pounds total.

Do what's right for you.... :)

Yer right on both parts, I think we might take it off to weigh it. I personaly thinks its just as easy to pull the rope.

I put an e-start kit on the wife's 08 700 a couple of years ago and weighed it before installation.

If I recall correctly it was about 18 lbs. for the Polaris e-start kit (which no longer includes the battery) and about 6 lbs for the battery.

I can't have an E-start my Arrss is to big, every pound counts. LOL, They are nice for the Girls and elderly.

Remember, part of the kit includes a replacement clutch plate with a sprocket for the starter to engage, so you are also removing a clutch plate. The weight of the kit isn't a true determination of additional weight. Without seeing a parts breakdown, really there is the weight of the starter motor, the flexible shaft, the sprocket, and the battery.

For a women or somebody with shoulder problems, the weight of the starter is well worth being able to enjoy riding. My wife, loves the starter on her sled, and if she is happy, I'm happy.

I would guess the ring gear on the primary clutch weighs less than one pound, hard to know unless you take it off the clutch. BTW, the Polaris e-start kit comes with a brand new primary clutch with the ring gear installed.

If you go to the Polaris IQ section Mountainhorse did an awesome wright up on a lightweight battery set up, i dont remember if it was for e-start or not but worth a look.

Man if we could go back on SW to the old days I'll bet you'll see some boo hooing from me about reverse being for people who can't ride and hand guards for hot dogs who think they CAN! Wooop now I've got both on all of my sleds!

Burandt told me one of the Pro's he got had no pull starting and it was flat out AWESOME!

Suitcase if you would off load that 18 pack of delicious coors light from your backpack you could have auto start. I've put in my application with OLC to install beer vending machines along "the" route in the caps. Save you guys all kinds of weight. Problem is I can only afford six machines and if I remember correctly that trip requires closer to 12!

...all that said and I still didn't order electric start for the Pro..just dumb

You would think with all this hybrid technology, the sleds would come with some kind of recoil spring that could be wound up using regenerative forces while the sled is running, then enable it to start the sled when you are ready to go again. Maybe weigh a couple pounds or something.
