Electric Start Problem

I have stumped several polaris mechanics and polaris tech in USA with electric start problem. Turn key and wont turn starter. If grounded at key it will start. Seems green wire with blue stripe is not grounding. Does any one know where the green blue wire from key to ECU grounds to complete start process. I can trace wire to harness on large plug (bottom row pin #7 panel side) then unable to find out where it grounds to in or through ECU. Any help would be great. Thanks

at your battery is the small brown wire attached to the negative battery terminal? alot of peeps hook it to positive and the start wont work..check that to begin with...now what year/model sled and I will go look at a wiring diagram....

green with a blue is to ecm for starter lockout...the ecm must receive a singal from another sensor(or 2 or 3) before allowing power down the green/blue wire most likely from the stator as far as the two triggers would be my guess..does it show any codes? runability problems?

Its a 2009 800 dragon. Brown wire is connected to negative post on battery. For the selinoid to engage it needs to go to ground. Has positive to key (white red) then green blue wire is supposed to go to ground which then engages selinoid to start. Just cant figure out where it finds ground in the ECU. I have also tried a different ECU with no success.

There has been no codes since new. I just had an injector go and replaced it. If i put jumper wire at key (white red wire to ground at key) it starts and runs fine.

tree rider. I have never seen a factory wiring schematic for a ecm(I am sure they exist but polaris wont let us see them)..my guess is the ecm is grounding the green/blue wire after it sees a signal(or lack of) thru 1 of the crank triggers on the stator(makes sense so it wont crank while its running)..you might run thru the stator test with a good multi meter as well as reverify that something didnt get unplugged/cut/pinched while the injectors where getting done..other wise you might just opt to run a new wire in place of the green/blue and ground it...

Get yourself a handlebar mounted momentary push button switch and connect it to the two small terminals on the starter solenoid. I mounted mine down low by the bar clamps, so I wouldn't accidentally hit it.

The Polaris tech from US would not say where wire went in ECU either. I will run new ground wire to key and see how this works. Thanks for all your help on this problem. Its greatly appreciated.

2008 IQ lx

Hello i have a 2008 IQ with factor installed electric start and it is having that same problem. I can ground the solenoid and start just fine. But when i turn the key i am not getting it to start. I am interested if anyone has looked into this more to find what the best fix is.

I am having same problem with my 09 Dragon 600. I can ground the solenoid and it will start. But when i turn the key i am getting nothing. It was acting funny for a while sometimes start, sometimes not, sometimes funny noise. I have put in new battery and new magentic switch and neither have help. Could it be the ignition switch? Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

I have tried new starter relay, solenoid, battery, and the green/blue wire trick. Nothing has worked. I was playing around with my voltmeter and found that I have 12V at the red/white wire pin. but when I turn key to electric start position I have no voltage at any of the other pins. Is the ignition switch my problem?
