Electric start options

Ok, got a guy I know who has a 2004 VE with 11,000 miles on it. Chassis is finally giving up the ghost so he is wanting to upgrade. He's found a low miles 2009 700 Dragon. The thing is, this guy is 82 years old. Still gets around good, but starting the sled when cold is a bit tough for him.

So he asked me about electric start. Silly me, I thought Polaris would still be offering the kit, 2877257, but nope, discontinued.

So anyone have any option you can think of for putting electric start on an IQ? Anyone bought a Pro kit and been able to Frankenstein it on to a Dragon?

I've scoured ebay, snowest, hardcoresledders for the IQ kit, no luck.

I would think this should work

The Pro kit will not do you any good. The only real common part would be the clutch. Make sure if you buy a used kit that you get the clutch with the ring gear and not just a ring gear.

It would probably be expensive but you might be able to piece a kit together from Polaris seperately.

Too bad, I sold a kit a couple months ago....

Just a follow-up in case others are searching for the info.

I got the parts list for the kit from the dealer and started looking at piecing it together. That ended quickly as some of the key parts like the starter motor, bendix drive mount, wire harness and battery mount brackets have been discontinued from Polaris.

So unless you can pick it all up used, and hope it never fails, you aren't putting electric start on an IQ.

And as diamonddave mentioned, no go on the Pro kit, way different, not really much in the way of common or useable pieces.

My guy decided to opt out because of not being able to get replacement parts if something failed.
