I'm not saying anything here, but if a spades a spade that's what you call it.
Seems like Ohios new voting system is kinda open to screwing and it is smelling of a left lean.

"You have to wonder, when they look at what they consider a loophole with such excitement," said Jason Mauk, the Ohio Republican Party's executive director. "That would suggest manipulating the process, and I think opens the door to suspicion."

The voting window, so far, is only being implemented in some counties _ typically, urban areas or those with college campuses _ leading Republicans to cry foul.

oh yeah i forgot to say.

The idea of a campaign rolling onto campus and getting folks registered(which they should be all ready) and then saying step over here and cast your vote....sure sounds like when the Irish used to grab people fresh off the boats, give them food or a job and then say, step this way to vote.

Or is it just me?

No its not just you. Their is alot of dirt. Dems dirty dogs. Oh boy this will get replies.

I can't even see Ruffmantle not calling this one....course the Republicans are just as bad if they try and exploit it.

Fraud is an interesting word, though that article has quite a bit of bias to it...

Some interesting quotes

This sounds like a bigger problem.
It has Ohio Republicans frustrated. Traditionally, young people make a lot of noise about elections and then stay home. If they don't actually have to turn up at the polls on Election Day, then they might take a greater interest.

So since it doesn't help republicans - time to cry foul?

Sounds fair to me... Maybe they should allow the same for trailer parks to kind of even it out. Register, vote, then drink a free bud light...
It's also given the campaigns of Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain a chance to bank thousands of first-time voters during that Sept. 30 to Oct. 6 window.

note ruffy, I said left leaning...never said Johnny boy wouldn't take advantage...but the so far ti sounds like it is mainly liberal counties where it is taking place, not state wide as it should be.

I think the whole damn thing is f'ed up....show up and vote on the second tuesday after the first monday of November.

And while I'm at it, anyone else hate the damn projected winner when polls close in New York but the west is still open for hours?

Seems to me if the tv is saying so and so has it wrapped up, alot of folks who could still vote will decide not to "waste" the time.

Nothing is gonna happen or matter so much that we can't wait until all the damn numbers are in.

I tend to agree with what they are trying to do. If the end result is that more people vote then that is what is best for the country... I would like to see voting in the 70-80% of population. Though the security needs should be addressed.

As to the tv... what else would they be talking about? Got to get the highest rating share to get the most profits from advertising......

Wrong,Wrong, Wrong!!!! Getting more to vote is not in the best interests of this country if it means seeking out the lazy, incompetant and disinterested in order to achieve merely a larger number of voters.

The government does not register voters when they fill out their W-2 forms but they register them when they apply for welfare. This just means that those that don't accept responsibility for their own support get yet another freebee and those who actualy act responsibly have to do it on their own.

It used to be that only landowners were able to vote as they were the ones paying the taxes and had a stake in the country. I don't agree with that as the only ones to vote but, I do think that if you are on the public dole and not due to some type of disability (and no, being too fat to walk is not a disability) you should not be allowed to vote.

It's not the number of voters ratjher, it is informed and educated voters that this country needs and that means that the voter needs to be informed and engaged with the issues.

p.s.generally speaking, there is no way that you can be either of these if you cannot read and write in english and if you cannot you should not be provided a ballot in any other language.

Holy strawman rant Batman!.... What should we do?

Just let him figure it out Robin.

hmm, I agree getting people to vote just to vote is stupid....but we all have that great right. I would like to see turn outs higher....I just keep on hoping that my fellow mid 20s generation keeps up the flapping of the mouth and then a lack of voting action.

I fear they are in for a treat when the quit living on mom and dad and leave college.

Why? Is that how your life went? To assume that is how it goes for all college students is a little much. Look around, there are tons of people that went to college, some stupid, some geniuses and a lot of regular people...

Oh know, I went right to school and the only help I got was a car and phone. The rest was me. I mean my remarks towards the, as South Park calls them, College Know It All hippies. Those who go to college and decide they now know exactly what is best for the world. Generally entailing lots of social aid and reform, no winners and losers, etc.

I know there are many hard working, hard thinking good kids coming out of schools(is it wierd that at 24 I refer to my agemates as kids?). Unfortunatly these are the ones who are all ready registered, those who think and don't vote off of blind passion or rhetoric. In short, they are not the ones who the Dems hope and I assume the Rep as well, to exploit with this loop hole.

I guess my issue is that the media portrayal of politics is very poor (whether it be rightfully earned or not). There is a large majority of young people that are disinterested in the whole system because of this viewpoint and the fact that it is very difficult to get the system to change... fiscal responsibility and the like. It is always talked about but never done.

Anyways, most young people would be good voters, if they cared enough...... It doesn't take much to get them involved (getting them to register and vote at the same time) and I am curious as to what the percentage would be of those that use the "loophole" that will vote in the elections in the near future. If it is 50% I would say the system was a success.

Though if a whole bunch of people got there votes counted that shouldn't have, it will basically blow up in their face and be more of a reason not to give a crap...

Anyone got change for a 5 spot? lol

Anyone catch the part where they get registered and then get an absentee ballot that does not get counted til a week or so later? I say if you cannot prepare yourself to vote before the election then you are not interested enough to do so and you lose til the next election. It's called personal responsibility and that is what is severely lacking in this country.

Here in Mn the St. Paul police department pulled the permit of a group getting set to protest the RNC convention. This group is a "welfare rights" group. They have the time to set up and protest for their right to our money and we are paying these ingrates to do so.
