I believe Mountain Addiction makes the exact same skid. They may have bought the rights to it. They use floats and titanium as well as spring shocks and what not :)

Got one, my old man has one too. Love the skid but not a skid for everyone. Kinda one dimensional unless you adjust things for different riding which nobody really likes doing. Mine rides as rough as a M-10 in a turbo w/o a JACK in it. But climbs awesome. I can put the skis on the snow or 4ft in the air depending on where I'm standing while climbing. And it soaks the trenches and shelves on the hills great. Just don't jump too high or try to sno-x it down the trail cause they don't like that. We do however and break the normal things: limiter straps, strip bolts out of the transfer rods, and breaking the middle tie rod linking the front axle to the rear axle. I know I shouldn't jump it, but sometimes things just gotta get done! haha. I had floats on mine for a couple rides, couldn't get em right, put my works shocks back on. Dual coil valved to my weight and such......skid weighs 42lbs. I got 9" billets on mine. 4" up top. No idlers, just scratchers.

Larry retired. Moved just outside Sicamous. Didn't ride with him at all this year, rode with him half dozen times last year.

I had one of Larry,s first suspensions, loved it ran it for years just swapped from one sled to the next, never had any problems, replaced bushings and rebiult shocks, once in 5 years.

this is the mtn addiction skid. I too have broken limiter straps and it does climb awesome, can keep it PLANTED. I updated the limiter straps upper mounting point as I found the track to rub the straps in the perfect situation. what I did was built a pair of stainless sheetmetal straps that wrap around the upper mount bar. they are shaped like a horse shoe and have a hole in them that the strap bolts to. the new set up is twice as strong and will never wear out. I took a 3oz. weight penalty instead of carrying spare straps.

How are you liking the skid overall SSH? And what did that model set you back $$ wise? I know MA does Floats and titanium, but I think id rather do the coilover style myself

it was a late season addition so I really should not say yet as I have no pow days on it. steep climbs on hero snow it keeps planted. the rails are tipped so it really is not too bad to turn even as a 162. the suspension does take the rough pretty well, but it does ever so often have a bizzare rebound that is more agressive then every othre time....it's not like it tosses you off the sled, but it does a great job of taking the rough, then all of a sudden it gives you a bigger bite of one. not anything that my other skids don't, but I just wanted to say that it is no miracle worker and there is bumps it won't tame. asthetically, I think it really does not get much cooler.

It looks sweeet as hell. Id like to run one. Im in a toss up of MA, Boivenzx2, and just putting in Zbroz shocks in all around :) so I appriciate the info ssh

I have a mountain addiction on an 06 rev. I love the suspension. They are the best boon docking suspension ever. It makes the sled feel 100 pounds lighter than anything out there, and I've compared it to xp's. My wife loves the sled. It makes it easier for her to throw around. I can pull the sled over on it's side on flat concrete with one hand. Try that with yours.
I have broken limiters and other stuff but Tim had some new and improved parts. Since I changed them I haven't had any trouble. I had a bearing go out in one of the axle wheels but it had 3100 miles on it. I should have changed it sooner.
The only problem I can see with the suspension iis it has some rebound issues. If you jump off something you catch more air on the second bounce. They have a rebound adjustment on the works shocks. If you slow the rebound down it gets harsher on the trail. I need to get stiffer springs and have them valved stiffer.
You won't be sorry if you get one. They are not a huge weight loss but they are worth it to me. They are more like 52 pounds.

That sounds awesome to me :D

hey thanx for all the help guys, might just consider getting one. i have a 07 rev 800r 151 and it just wheelies everywhere, kinda hard to go up the steeper hills, it just wants to roll back. but mostly i like to hit jumps and boondock.

do they still sell them new or only used if you can find them?

Is the company still selling them new or do you have to only find them used. And if they don't sell them anymore can you still buy parts forever? How much are they $ like for a 162 cat new and used prices. Also what exactly are they called name, make, model? And does anyone have pics of the internal working parts so we can tell how it works and mounts being that they don't look like any other skid.

From what i have seen i would look at a different skid for the money. Think of it this way if it was the wazoo skid it would still be around and lots of people would be running it and talking about it. It was one of the pioneers in skid development.

you have to find a used one. They don't make them anymore. I bought a bunch of spare parts when Tim stopped making them. Mine is currently broke and heading to the machine shop. It has been an awesome skid. My wife loves it and I have tried not to pound on it since they don't make them anymore. It is getting harder and harder to pice back together. If youare looking for a skid I would reccommend getting something else, just for the simple fact that they don't make them anymore. Get an ez ryde or k mod.

I had one in an 04 rev and it seemed to go soak up the bumps down the trail but i didnt like it for jumping. It seemed to donkey kick a lot. I tried a lot of different things to get rid of it that they recomended over the phone but i didnt have any luck. The other issue i had with it was weight transfer. I couldnt make it transfer, it had tons of ski pressure. I drilled 3 different sets of holes to mount in various locations they recommended before pulling it out. It worked well in other sleds but i didnt have much luck with it in a rev. I put a coilover in and it fixed my issues. Just my .02

I have mine in an 06 rev and it works awesome. They don't have any transfer problems if installed and adjusted right. I do agree with the donkey kick thing. They have rebound issues. If you adjust the rebound they get harsh on the trail. When jumping it levels the sled out better than any suspension I ever had. You do catch more air on the second bounce which can be a little scary. It wants to nose in when you land. I have floats for them but have never tried them. I would have to get a different shaft made for them. The weak link on them is the hoops off of the transfer rod that go over the rear shaft. The bolt going into the transfer rods breaks. They are 7075 and need to be ti or crome moly. The last time both of them broke and bent the rear shaft and tweaked the tunnel. I did break one limiter but they changed them and I havn't had any problems with the new ones. I would get something else that they still make. Otherwise you are married to a machine shop.
