Eight and Counting

I have eight friends who purchased Ski Doo 800s last year or this year. As of yesterday, everyone of them has had at least one motor burndown. They also go through belts like crazy and fight the clutching nearly every ride. One of them resorted to installing a Polaris primary clutch which, according to him, works really well.

It makes me wonder why people are buying these sleds. I guess that they are gluttons for punishment, like being towed out and like sitting at home watching televison when the rest of us are riding. Go figure!

Gloater

Let me guess what do you ride?????????????????????? Polaris
Why don't you go gloat over there!!!!!!!!;)

We have a small group of riders here, one new xp and one new Dragon . The xp has worked great, the dragon eats belts, oh yeah my new yamahas reverse wont work...so what are ya saying...all sleds have a problem or two. I belive the dragon will work out just fine with a vent kit and some minor clutching. The XP works just fine, and the yamaha, I belive the the reverse is a joke, probaly never will work. Just my thoughts Dino

not discounting the fact that doos are blowing motors... they need to fix that problem. i rode with 3 xp's yesterday in the deepest snow i have ever ridden in and they were the king. and let me say this they werent *****-footin it either. they rode them hard. not one issue. i have a 05 m7 with a 153 track and if i didnt stay in a track periodically i would be stuck. the xp's could go just about anywhere without getting stuck.

RMK- I know what you mean. I've been fighting problems with my 07 800R since last year. This year even after the engine pukes and I get a new short block, I stiill cant get it to work. Next ride I am going to install a ECU from a buddies 07. Hopefully since mine got moisture in it before the update it is screwed. I am so un happy with my 07 I am searously looking at changing brands. I just want my stock sled to work!

I had a Polaris that lost a crank, my '07 Doo has been flawless, as well as the other 3 800R's in our group.

Oh hell boys, I was just working you a little. Don't be so sensitive. The XP is an amazing piece of work to be sure. It does rule in the deep. In sort of a reverse of the old days, a lot of guys that I know would like to have Polaris motor/clutches in an XP chassis. It used to be the other way around when the 670 rotary valve engine was finding its way into the Polaris chassis. Maybe they should just merge and get everything right. Nah, won't happen.

I am interested in the rumors about an XP 1000 next year as well as the much less likely rumors about factory Polaris turbo two strokes.

By the way, you are correct. I ride a Polaris. I just sold the 935 (stroked 910) and I am getting a very well set up and slightly modified Dragon 800. I also have a slightly modified 2007 RMK 600. The 935 is a rocket. It wheelies like a turbo sled. Lots of fun to be sure.

Anyway, you Doo guys can take solace in the fact that I am not an Arctic Cat rider. I went there once. Big mistake!

not to be bossy or cocky but i went to the doo dealer here they had 22 xp's with blown motors

My dealer has 100 08 XP's out in the field.... Maybe 1 engine problem... I have not heard of that many engine problems on the 08's

I try to stay out of the brand stuff on here. The revs run sweet, when they are running, I ride with 2 07s and they are bolth on their 2nd motors. They are awesome when they run.

Dont think you will see a 1000 xp, but I think you will see an E-tec triple
