EGT temp difference

Ok, I have an 02 800rmk 151 VES, it has slp twins. my problem is I have an egt temp difference of 300/600 degrees. Mag 130 PTO 390 at 2/2500rpm/ Mag 960 PTO 1480 above 3/4 throttle. I have switched probes (also they measure the same distance from the jugs), cleaned ves valves and put in yellow springs, jetted mag400/pto390 for 10-12k..I have also rejetted for 0-3000k and have the exact same results. any ideas??rob
 
Air leak somewhere? Seen torn carb boots before. Check the carbs, piece of crap might be stuck in an orfice. Had a fuel screw tip break off inside a carb once. Check the reeds too. Is the PTO seal still good?

did the starting fluid trick already with no changes, thought pto seal as well. Carbs have been off several times and tore down. have not looked at reeds tho, I have run in WYO twice this way it responds and runs spot on.
 
Over simplification here but I would jet the pto side the same as the mag side before I got into it too deep. Have you looked at the piston wash? It's more reliable as a tuning aid than EGT's.
