Hey Guys I have a 2007 m1000 just wondering where everyone else is mounting there egt propes? I placed them dead at four inchs from the piston and my egts dont seem right to me. They say to mount them 4-6inchs so im thinking maybe I need to try 5 inchs. What are you guys mounting yours at? Thank you in advance

4" and in the center of the Y pipe with the tip sticking down into the center of the tube. That should of placed you right at the apex of the bend in the Y pipe, thats about the hottest place. You can use a thermal heat sensor and find the hottest spot, but most people don't have one of those.

I asked that question to racin station (Eric) today. He said 6" in front of piston. my koso instructions said 4" for dual probes. different pipe manufacturers may say different distances for there pipe. He also said set the hi temp warning for 1250 degrees.

6" will put you almost into the flow of the other side. I suppose it is where there is the most heat gathering but I have to question if you would not get a little false reading as far as individual cylinder heat balancing is concerned. Eric would know better than me but I do not see the logic behind it, it's almost like running one probe instead of two.

ok are you guys refering to single prope or duel prope. I have a single prope on myn. Thankyou for all your responses.

Mine is set 4.5" and high temp warning is set at 1265 single probe, haven't had it go off yet, hope this helps...............
