Putting EGT's on my 07' 600 SDI summit. What is the best color wire to splice into for power and for the tach pulse.

If you figure it out, let me know. I'm trying to hook a digitron up to my 05 Summit and want to keep the stock tach functional. Digatron recommends using the white/green wire going to your speedo/tach. I was also told by a few others who are reputable to use that wire. When I talked to the Digaton dude he said the white/green wire won't work to hook up both stock and digatron tach....I will get erratic readings. Told me to find a wire that carries a tach pulse running between the mag and mpem. I haven't figured out exactly where to splice into yet, so I've been putting off the installation. I hate to butcher a bunch of wires, but I'm very tempted to just try to the white/green wire to see what happens.

Power source

The Gauge pulls it's power off the yello wire your splicing into. I have trouble figuring this out a cuple years ago. It works though.

I guess you can get a 3 wire plug. You can plug use an accessory plug (like for the heated helmets) to plug into with your power and ground.....and then you need to find a line with a pulse for your tach reading.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe the ones that have troubles with inaccurate readings are the ones hooking into the green/white wire with a 2 wire plug. Maybe the 3 wire plug with a seperate power source would work splicing into the white/green wire for just the tach pulse.

Sdi?

So are the SDI's DC or AC or start AC but convert some to DC? I'm pretty sure I hooked up to a DC source. My manual for my EGT says the battery will only charge if hooked to AC.

I have used both the Green/white wire and the yellow wire from the mag and they both work..I have never had a problem with an erratic reading...the erratic readings probably come from not have the gauge set on the proper pulse program to read the tach signal...or a bad splice...

in that case, which setting is RIGHT for a twin? :P

i'm using a 3 wire. power to accessory, tach to the green/white in gauge cluster.

i DO have a tach reading, but, its not in sync w/ the stock tach. and it scales incorrectly.

Should be set on 6-pulse. If it's not correct just run everything to the big yellow wire at the VR.

Mine is set on 6. I tried the green wire with white stripe and no worky. Then the white wire with green stripe, worky just fine for Digitron Tach.

Where is the VR?

Hooked both wires up to one of the yellow wires coming off the VR, seems to work just fine.
Problem I had was finding a good ground so I ended up just using the handwarmer ground.

little mixed up here.. please help

on a xp please tell me the wires off the digatron and where they need to be hooked up on the sled too, corect color to what plug??

thanks in advance

Should be like the '07 I would think, big yellow of the regulator.

Red @ Orange wires tie together and tap into one of the 2 yellow wires coming from the voltage regulator...should be on the Mag side down low....at least on the Revs.
Black is ground so either tap into another ground wire or bolt it to the motor or frame.
