EGT gauges M-8 sensor location

I've bought a 2009 M-8, its got SLP pipes the bigger air inlet to the box. I just bought a Digatron. I'm wondering does anyone know how far the sensor should be from the piston skirt. Also what is the operating temp and about what temp should the alarm be set for before melt down? Any help would be appreciated. Anyone using this setup around Towgotee? It has SLP MTX weights. What weight seems to work best out there?

correct me if i'm wrong , but these motors are reversed cooled, so if you're gonna put your water temp sensor in, it should be installed on the lower hose, cutler makes a fitting for it, i have my warning light go on at around 150. Hope this helps

Twins are 5" from the piston skirt, I've used this measurement many times and find it works well. Your operating temp will depend on your sled, all run a little different. Find where your sled runs good using plugs and piston wash then look at your egt's for temps. These are your target temps on the egt and you can now set the alarms depending on your comfort level.

Hope this helps;
Shane
