Edmonton Welders

Hey Guys,

Ripped my rear suspension out of the sled to allow access for a welder to get to the front heat exchanger to weld a couple holes.

Anyone know any good welders which can weld aluminum (i think the front exchanger is aluminum)?

Anyone had to take their sled to someone like this?

Prefer someone in Edmonton, St.Alberta, Ft. Saskatchewan, Redwater or Gibbons.

Thanks Guys

weld

their not going to be able to weld it without removal so the water can be totally cleaned out. it has to be truly dry

So how would I go about removing it? I'd ave to have the entire sled apart for that. I dont think thats an option, as its PART of hte main bulkhead structure.

If they cut a pacth or two out, would that not be enough cavity space to run some dryers or something in there after a flush of hte exchangers? Then they can weld afterwards?

The best way to get a person to weld it is to do some prep work and have it ready when they look at it. First off you have to get all of the antifreeze flushed out of it. Then take a propane torch and boil all of the remaining water out of it. next with a dremmel or die grinder remove an area about 3/4 to 1" of fins around the holes(don't worry this will not hurt the cooling). When that is done use a piece of scotchbrite to polish up the area. Wash it down with alchahol and dry it off. A good man with a tig can then weld it up with no problem. The prep is everything on this job and cleanliness is a must.
I just did one last week for one of my buddies. Of course I had to do all of the prep work and if it was for a customer I would be talked into doing it a lot easier if that was done. Good luck.
