Edge track extension ideas

I was going to do a 16 inch wide 151 3.0 pitch track. Now I'm thinking different.

I have a 2002 rmk 700 144.

I would like to extend the track and maybe move the suspension to get away from trenching. I currently pressed 3.0 wahl anti drivers on my shaft.
Now I'm questing the 16 inch track.

I'm looking for ideas and what have you done?
Do I need a tunnel extension if it's 151 or bigger or can the snow flap be eliminated?

Put an extension on it, don't eliminate the snow flap.

DO NOT move the suspension back, just adjust it and you will not have trenching issues any more. About the worst thing you can do for handling is to move an Edge RMK suspension back.

Put rail extensions on and go to the Series IV 159 2" track... great track for the Edge RMKs.

I was told moving the suspension was the secret? I need a 3.0 pitch track for my wahl drivers, will the suspension hit if I don't move it back?

Moving the Edge RMK was the secret? No, trust me on this, it makes them ride terrible.

I've not ever put 3 pitch drivers on an Edge, don't know if you'll have clearance issues. All I can garantee is that you will not be happy moving the suspension back.

I have Wahl anti ratchet drivers, 3.0 pitch 7 tooth on my 04' Edge. I trimmed the rails and run an anti stab kit to be safe. I didn't move my suspension back. If you go longer, extend the tunnel, and move the flap back with it. This is important for cooling that rear radiator.

There are lots of tracks out there in 3.0 pitch that you could use that aren't 16" wide. I was either going to do a 162" Power Claw or 162 Camo Extreme (both in 15" wide, but then found a deal on a 174x16).

What sort of riding do you do? This is important in deciding what length of track. I know riding my sled with a 159 was fun for me for almost everything, but if I was on more flat terrain I really enjoyed my buddies 144 because it was just that much easier to throw around.

Im starting to think 159, i ride ditches, black hills and mountains. I have another Rmk 700 that is a 144 i can use at home or the black hills.
I think 159 would be pretty good for the mtns. I guess is there an advantage to 3.0 pitch or 2.52 because i do have both drivers anti rachet.

3.0 pitch is slightly lighter, and is supposed to be more flexible for less rolling resistance. I don't know if its really a big deal though. The 3.0 pitch is more likely to stab the track, thats the one disadvantage that comes to mind.

I really liked my 159" track and think it would be a good fit for you, I just wanted more for climbing in the steep and deep and didn't mind the loss of a nimble sled.

I think there is advantage to the 2.52 if you get a good one. The Series IV Polaris track is a good one. The 2.52 tracks have nearly 20% more paddle on the snow at any given time. Yup, they are heavier and that has fueled the 3.0 revolution so if ultimate lightweight is the deciding factor go with the 3.0.
