edge over heating with slp twin pipes

so i got an 05 800 edge 151 with twin slp pipes and it runs sweet but we went out couple days ago in about 3' of powder and it seems like it likes to over heat. it just bogs out and its not because its not getting air. when i let it cool off for a bit it runs sweet again. has anyone had this problem and is there anything i can do to help? I think im gonna get some hood vents but is there anything else i can do? thanks

If it overheats it goes into limp mode and the gauge alerts you to this. Are you sure it's not just the enhaust outlet plugging with snow? VERY common. Make sure the deflector is in place and the silencer outlet is flush with the pan.
If it only acts up in the deep it's more likely intake or exhaust than a overheating issue as they cool the best in the deep.

thanks guys ill check the exhaust outlet. it was rejetted and it was about 15 degrees outside so i know it was getting cold air. im gonna check on that exhaust outlet today. thanks

the exhaust is a biggy, but if your airbox is not sealed from the under hood air it will have the same effect if you go through powder and it it covers the vents on the hood.

had the exact same thing happen , and it was a faulty coolant cap, it was broken and it kept the coolant from circulating and when it overheated it went into limp mode, I could tell it wasn't circulating by felling your rear heat exchanger, hope that helps

The issue with the Edge 800 and twin pipes is that the snow comes in the hood and hits the pipes. This makes steam and the airbox sucks steam and of course we all know that steam and gas from the carb means a rich condition. The result is bogging and a loss of power. The cure is to put two foam rings between the airbox and the air intake on the hood. I did this with "Old Blue" my 2002 edge with twin pipes and a Dr. John engine and he gave an serious butt whoopin to a couple of 2011 ski-doo E-tecs. I could hear the E-tec drivers pouting on there way home off the lake. They had their tails between their legs. Nothing (normally aspirated) is as fast as an Edge Polaris with SLP twins. I would put Old Blue up against any normally aspirated 800 for pink slips. He is the King. Even the Dragons with the Jackson Hill special SLP engine got an *** whoopin by Old Blue. Just ask Colin from M and M performance in Kelowna B.C. because he went up against Old Blue and got his *** handed to him. Dr John was there to witness the event.

E-mail me and I'll send you a picture and the recipe for success.

hell yeah we need a pic of old blue. yeah ill try that foam trick, i only had a prob in the super deep. The sled is super fast all around. just wants to wheelie anything. it doesnt have Vforce reeds though, you guys think i should get em? Slp says it gains 24 hp with the twins so im thinkin probably 20. thanks for the tips guys
