Point of this post is an FYI. Haven't seen any others with this problem.
Was in the backcountry of WA the other weekend in great snow having a good day. Decided we had rolled the sleds enough and been stuck enough and it was time to head back. Started it up to equalize temps and about 3 sec into idle, heard a pop like something was stuck in the muffler and was thrown out. Hit the kill switch to see if something had come out.
After that I had crank but no start, the dash didn't even come on during crank.
Did some trail diagnostics and tried a few tricks. Nothing worked so we towed it into the truck.
Did more diag at the house: Kill switch, PERC, 12V source, Voltage booster ect... all good.
Local dealer took it in and said it was ECU. Took a week to get parts and replace but now good as new and feels like it has 10 more HP. Must be placebo effect.
Anyway the point of this thread was more of a data point than anything. Dealer said it was super rare in fact hadn't replaced any on the Pro at all but just had a voltage reg go bad the same week.
My timing was as good as I can have, on trail, pointed down, had friend and equipment. 2 minutes earlier I was on a near vert slope in super deep snow and it would have been spring or a few winches to get out.
