Ebc

It relays the signal to a solenoid, which then operates the waste gate. Basically, you set the EBC for the boost you want to run, when your sled hits that number, the EBC signals the solenoid, and that send pressure to the waste gate, opening it. Only time it will not work, is if you set the EBC for lower boost, than the waste gate spring is rated for. IE, if you set the EBC on 3 PSI, and you have a 7Lb spring in your waste gate, you will still get 7 PSI of boost to your motor.

Thanks for the explanation Kestrel. I have been struggling to understand that until today. I get the solenoid part, but the wastegate actuator part was confusing. Luckily I took BD's word for it and bought the adjustable 4-12# actuator. I ride low sometimes and need to have low boost here and there.

Can you tell me, when will it be important to turn up the wastegate actuator. I can just turn my EBC up right? Will I ever need to turn it to a stiffer level?

The wastegate can only control the boost to a point. If you have a 4lb spring and are trying to run 12lbs, you will not build boost as fast as if you have a 10lb spring in the wastegate. They work hand in hand.
