Ebay 800 Dragon "Fix kit" any good?

Alright, I had an 02' 800 RMK and got rid of it at 2200 miles for fear of PTO bearing failure now I'm sitting on my 09' Dragon 800 163" I rode all of last year. Bought it used "one owner sled" had a little over 300 miles and 2010 updates. As it stands now it has 845 miles on it and was running great when "summerized" As with my 02' I read in the forums in the off season and have become very paranoid that my dragon is ready for implossion soon. I've been shopping around for fix it kits and found a couple on ebay selling for around $380 with Wiesco or Namura pistons.

So is this a good kit compared to the $600 ones (like the one I saw today at the snowmobile show?) Lastly, can you do this kit without pulling the motor and can a re-hone be done or do I need to send the cylinders out?

I have no opinion experience with that kit.

Yes, this can be done without pulling the motor.

Re-hone can be done if cylinders are round and not tapered past service limits.

I have put on a bunch of the mountain tech performance kits and they make a great kit. I have heard (put not seen) the kit on Ebay is using differant pistons. I can not confirm. Highmark is the local dealer for them and they have been stocking them there. You need to talk to Jake in there so he can set you up with the extra parts and refash controller for the correct mapping.
The engine can be left in the sled BUT you need to make sure you get all the coolant out of the jugs so it will not go into the bottom. I have a vac. tool that pulls the coolant out then I pull the head off and the vac. the rest of the jug out. Then pull jug off to hone them. Their instuctions are really good as well. If you do it yourself be very careful with the injectors and when replacing the pistons put a rag around rod so the c-clip does not fall into the bottom. If the c-clip comes out and you can not find it it could be bad news later.
If you need any help drop me a line..... Good luck

I have the MTNTK on mine, but I see this "Ebay" kit is coming from Orem... I'd like to know what company it is down there pedaling them.

There was one kit on eBay when I was looking at these with Namura pistons, another kit called the Dragon Saver kit from somewhere back east (US) available with either Wiseco or SPI. While it was cheaper than Mtn Tek's kit, I would go with Mtn Tek, they would not disclose details (trade secret I am sure) but they developed these kits themselves and engineered the pistons special for their kit they explained. I would prefer to reward the original developer anyway.

I went with a different sled which has Carls 860 "fix kit" in it as I ran into a deal too good to pass up last spring. Their kit is pretty pricey when new but it is a torque monster... and they recommend replacing pistons every 1200 miles as maintenance anyway (and have pistons you can only buy from them)...
