Easy with the 206'er label

Let me start off with a :D

How many other 509 transplants to the Wet Side? Sucks, doesn't it? :(

I grew up in Eburg. Hell, I'm 5th generation to be born there and my family practically founded the town. After a stint in the god-forsaken country known as the Bay Area, I now live in Puyallup for my job. I got called "206'er" as a joke for the first time last year when I was up in Waterville. Although it was funny, it still sucked. I wish I could live over there, but unfortunately with my job I just can't (needs water and big ships).

So guys, for us thin-skinned Eastern Washington (aka The Smart Side) ex-pats, take it easy with that label. We're not all idiots who slap on our chains at the first sign of a frost. Besides, there's a few CWU profs who could give any Cap Hill snob a run for their money in the blithering liberal idiot category too. ;)

Of course, it's not as bad as when the bartender at my favorite bar in Eburg wouldn't serve me because I had a CA license...

I feel your pain Pro-M

Right back atcha'
Born in Idaho. My family was scattered in Montana & Idaho. Had to follow the jobs to Wa. when the saw mill burned down. The biggest issue I have with being called a 206'er is that I live in 360:D

:face-icon-small-win than there thoes of us who came over in the early 70's and liked what we saw, built my first cabin in Pine Loc Sun in 1971,,,,,,,,,retired here full time in 1995, dont care what they call me ,,,just so's it isnt late for supper........................:beer;

Born in Port Angeles, raised in Port Townsend, moved to Seattle area to go to college, marry and work. In 1984, bought property overlooking LAKE CLE ELUM, builit a cabin in 1987, but continued to live in Maple Valley; work in Renton.

Saw which way the wind was blowing and bought 3 acres by Indian John Hill in 1995, just finished building a retirement home there. Still have the cabin and Maple Valley house. Will sell MV when the wife retires in April, move to Upper Peoh Pt and keep the Lake Cle Elum Cabin........Sorry to intrude, but I left an open spot in Port Townseld for some yuppie to occupy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I havse a lot of friends in Cle Elum; Folks in Ellesnburg are not open to outsiders, but F'em; I have plenty of friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing how even the lake is getting so many places on it now. Won't be long before Ronald to French Cabin Cr. Rd. is one continuous bunch of places.

Yeah, the Eburg'ers are getting a little testy. It's a bummer when good farmland gets chopped up for rinkydink $hitboxes. It's going to be just like here in Puyallup if they can't get a handle on zoning. Where is all the business going to come from to support the new housing that is shooting up? Actually, they can't even agree with each other. You ought to hear the arguing about big box retail going up at the west interchange.

Yea, I'm a little touchy on the 206 thing... a little thin skinned (yea, right...for you that need me to point out things with crayons....lol). But then, I was here when 206 was everywhere. Like when Redmond was a farm town with no traffic lights.. smaller then Ritzville.

Nevermind, 206ers suck!!

Personally, I'm happy to be a 206er or 425er and would even be a 509er(if I had a cousin I was loving long time...LOL).....cause it's way better than 816 or 913 which was my last code....!!!

you can bet anyone using the term 206er is most likely a former 206er.
Its funny how some people move to a different area code and they have a new point of view about the other side. Just because someone currently lives in the 206 area code, doesn't mean you have more roots in that town them they do. Careful who you label, they may just be related to more people in that town then you are.

I would bet that most of the people throwing around the term "206er" know less about the area then some of us so called "206ers"

Lake Cle Elum, does the wind ever stop blowing out at upper Peoh?

Born and raised in eastern WA and now live in King County. Honestly I used to make fun of westsiders who come over to eastern WA and asked what the hell do you over here. In most small towns people say hello or thank you. Heck half the time you give a courtesy waive driving down the road. You sure don't see very much of that over on the west side other than a middle finger for being in someone’s way.

I judge now just judge people by the actions of lack of judgment in situations and attitude although I sure do miss the smaller town politeness.

Where you were born and now live does not make you who you are. Drawing conclusions about people based on where they live or their area code is just silly.

It is how you were raised and how you choose to act now.

I have seen plenty of rude 509'ers just like I have seen lots of nice 206'ers. I have seen liberal 509'ers and I have seen conservative 206'ers.

People are people throughout the world.

A hard-working, well-rounded, mature, secure person does not blame, complain and whine about competition from others based merely on where they live.

Nor do they feel threatened that others are taking something from them because they come from somewhere else, albeit Western Washington or a foreign country.

It could be worse, there are us 253-ers which is the same as a 206-er but we have a meth lab in the back yard and can't afford chains.

Don't feel bad I have lived in Cle Elum my whole life-30 yrs. and I get accused of being a westsider. I guess since I have all my teeth and dress nice that makes me a little out of place in my own neck of the woods.

I don't care though because I have been places on the mountain that most the locals round Cle town have only heard of and never seen.

??? You have all of your teeth? Lucky! Oh and you dress nice, that is so cool! Really the only bad part about being a local over here and dealing with "coasties" is when SOME of the "winter visiters" are a**holes. I know there are rude people everywhere, but when someone comes into our small little community with a $100,000 set-up and just looks down there nose at you, it gets a little frustrating. Pretty much the way I see it, a few bad eggs have ruined the visitors image. I'm cool with all the riders coming over and enjoying the same sport I love...its kind of like a big family in a way. But when you've got an SUV full of Bellevue women in fur coats gawking at our ill equipt stores...all you can do is laugh and complain. Just help me change my belt on my XP and you've got my respect...:)
