am i the only one who watches the news and can't believe people are wanting to rebuild thier house right where it was just flattened??? gee i wonder whats gonna happen the next time a big storm comes through? guess they'll be on the news again? is the view of the ocean really worth it....

Its not as bad as the people from new orleans that keep rebuilding in a town that is already below sea level. Hmmmm wonder if its gonna flood again. Yep. I guess its better then them yahoos moving west.

As much sense as people in the mountains being surprised when they have to leave a house and watch it burn during fire season.

These storms don't happen often, you already own the land. Seems like a no brainer to build there again. Do you know how many home survived several storms before this? Rebuild to new building codes and I bet you won't have an issue again.

Except a fire happens once in a hundred years! Idiots keep rebuilding in flood zones time after time BIG difference .

another big difference is that the peole who lose thier homes in fires are covered by their own insurance not federal diaster and/or flood insurance( taxpayer funded) The Sandy deal is a little different but for the most part thats not the case.

Devestating storms that wipe out big chunks of towns aren't that common...

So if it is dumb for people to rebuild where to you propose they live? Work?

And are you saying states have never, ever applied for Federal disaster relief after a fire?

I've also heard from people that their own insurance didn't always cover everything you would think after a forest fire came through.

Just curious, when was the last time that part of the country was destroyed by a hurricane? I totally agree with the New Orleans thing though, a city underwater is of course gonna flood.
