Ease of installation of RK Tek Drop in kit

A few questions about the Drop in kit.

I love my new Pro, but I realize this motor suffers from poor engineering and inferior pistons and rings. RK Tek seems to have created a kit to strengthen the motor, improve reliability, and actually add hp at the same time. What a great idea. Am I right about this?

So my question is how difficult is it to tear down your stock motor and install this kit? Can a guy do it alone? What's the estimated time to complete the kit?

Thx all in advance.

I did mine in 3 hours.pretty straight forward.get help to hold cylinder when you mount it.kit comes with new OEM base gasket, reused o rings on mine.so far im happy.pulls more rpm on the same clutching.much harder midrange hit and trottle response from take off.i wish i could pull off some fuel on low rpm/load.

Hey thanks for responding. You like the kit? Any durability issues?

Anyone else? Anyone burn down a pro with this kit installed? Lots of life added to the motor with this kit?lots of reliability added? That is what I'm
Mostly looking to add.

If you are going to the extent of pulling the top end you might just as well go to the 858 kit. My thought is you do not know how much stress has already been put on the cylinder skirt so their is a good chance that it is already starting to crack. You could just send out your cylinder and have them striped, checked and renikisil or take the gamble and put in new pistons.
I remember their used to be away to check engine block for cracks I think it is called magnaflux. If there was some way to check them with out redoing them than I would go with just the piston kit.
The best solution would be that Polaris gets some better engineers or buy from Japan instead of China.

yes,i like it very much.it comes with forged high quality pistons with coated sides, pistons look very stout and they are about 80 grams lighter each than OEM.clearances are WAY better.rattling noise is gone now(just the usual p85 noise on 8twins).more reliability, more power and a better head.no brainer to me when we now start to see piston/cylinder/bottom end failure numbers.have not had any issues yet.only 150 miles on it.does a little better each trip:face-icon-small-hap

How reliable is that 860 KIT? I've heard bad things about it, but what do you guys think? You get much out of it? I was also thinking of it, but if the price isn't right might just go ahead and pay the extra money for the turbo.
