Early season riding..

I'm surely not the only one eager to get some riding in for the 11/12 season.

What areas do you guys/gals monitor for early season riding?

Last year was my first year and we went up to Blewett Pass mid-November, and they seemed to have the most snow of the areas I researched at the time. Are there other legal riding areas that accumulate snow earlier than Blewett Pass?

if you're talking road riding, I think it's hard to beat stampede for the number of miles of ungroomed and groomed road..tons of spurs and easy for night rides with it being probably the most accessable.

problem is low elevation........... harts pass is a ways to drive for the first road ride, but wil laccomadate....................for the early ride

Been riding the methow for years, never ridin harts, but heard it has good early and late snow. I'm down for a ride if someone with harts experience is up for it. Whenever that may be...

Baker seems to be getting a fair amount of snow fall. What about Schriebers Meadow? Does it start at a high enough elevation?

One big problem with early season rides is wheeled vehicles and hunters. Plan on riding in jeep ruts but remember, legally the roads still belong to them.

is it December 1st that they shut that down and start grooming?

we usually do Stampede or GC road raging for the early season.. just close to home and easy..

Schrieber's needs a fair amount to cover up all the rocks and stumps that your front suspension will be searching for on your first ride. I would wait for a couple more weeks I am guessing.

Baker gets dumped on at the higher elevations, but you need two feet minimum at the meadows before you can head up. A good place to follow is Marten ridge on the snotel report, it's about 3500' and is fairly close to Baker, it's reading about 5" as of Friday, when it reads 2'-3' we are getting close, :face-icon-small-hap that doesn't mean all of the holes have filled in though. :fear:

I'm going to try to ride GC / Stampede next weekend.

Don't wreck it first time out. Just wait. We don't want to listen to you wine about you making a pour decision now. If you want to go for a early ride. Take a bungi cord and run it around the top of the tunnel holding a sprinkler underneath. It will keep the engine cool and lube your hyfax at the same time. No newb carnage that way.

I will be taking out my new 340 and see what it can do.

So u didn't get that RT 1000 at the show? Here. A 340 probably maxxed out is about 35mph. Look around on the sled to sea what tools u may new for road side adj and repairs. Tow strap. You might find a cat and tow it back. Don't forget to get pics for documentation of it. Hahaha.
