I may end up working in the area and I was wondering if any members lived in the area. I would like to know a few things. Are there any places to ride a dirtbike after work? Where can I find a decent but very affordable room to rent with WiFi access and the cheap places to dine. I would like to be able to bring a paycheck home without spending the earnings on lodging and dining.

Thanks in advance for all of the help.

Got an interview down there Saturday. Just looked at the real estate market down there. HOLY COW! Prices there are twice at what I'm used to here. I can get a house half the size for 50k more than what I can sell my house here for. Doesn't look like moving there is an option.

I've spent the last few weeks down here on and off.
Beautiful place, lots of restaurants, etc... warm.

Seems like an odd mix of wealthy Land Rover driving silver haired yuppies, lots of of ex-cons, and a bunch of rabid mountain bikers and college hippies(hippsters?) mixed in.

The drive north of town (Molas Pass) is probably one of the most scenic areas in the state for paved driving. Looks like easy/quick access to snowmobile/dirtbike country.

Hotels are way overpriced; rates just jumped up due to summer season.
Oh, BTW....there is no "recession" in Durango.
I know of two people who just closed on houses down here.

Not sure about the rest of your question....

Good Luck!

MD.

BTW - I'm out of here Friday, or I'd offer to catch up..

Ralph,

Just put a camper on the back of you big ole truck.

Can't find a nice used one for a short bed. And those cab over campers are very spendy. I could almost buy a trailer for that but then I'd have to get a ToyBox. If the guy can give me an honest answer on work load and keep me busy for a decent amount of time until Colorado falls outta this mess I might just look into getting a decent used ToyBox.
