Duramax hub bearing life?

I changed my original hub bearings out when I got the truck at 90k miles with brand new Timken stuff. I'm at 132k miles now and the driver's side is howling again.

I torqued everything to spec when I put it all back together but I'm a little surprised it's failing already.

What kind of life should I expect out of these bearings? I have a buddy telling me they go 200-600k miles on factory stuff. I find this hard to believe.

It really depends on how the truck is used. I've seen them go out at 60k for guys that are on rough roads all day long, gravel, washboard, etc. I know guys that have 200k and never changed one.

Hate to state the obvious, but are you running a larger wheel/tire? How do you use the truck? Plowing? LOL
There is a chance you just got a bad part, I'd think it should last longer than what you're saying.

I have 18x9 wheels with 295/65s on them.

The truck is used 99% on the highway for my sled trips (2k+ each way). I do some trailering/hauling around home but it's all highway miles. No plowing or drunken offroading. I take care of my stuff, I'm just surprised it's toast already. Maybe I got a bad one, who knows.

I replaced drivers side at 80k and passenger at 140k. Same guy that replaced them said that a lot of towing heavy loads could accelerate things. I tow a bunch year round, and live on a gravel road so makes sense I guess. I was told to expect them to be replaced between 75k-100k miles. '04 Dmax 2500 SRW

Still have the original hubs on my '97 GMC 2500 EC/LB 4x4 and have a little over 144K on them. The largest tire I have run is 265/75-16. It was a daily driver at first, but now it's my hunting/fishing truck, so lots of dirt, mud and snow. I use to tow a 9K lbs 5th wheel with it till I bought my '09 3500HD SRW.

We have 4 chevys at work at 3 have been toasting them at 60 to 70 thousand like clock work. two are 03 one 07 and the froth one is a 13

We have done them under warranty! If you run a bigger tire shorter life. Average 50-80K

I had a VW TDI have a wheel bearing go out and they would not cover that under warranty. They considered it a wear item (like brake pads, tires, etc). I'm surprised GM covered that.

I have two 02's. one is a drw 3500 with 550k still on stock bearings, towing 95% of it's life. other is a 2500 that is modded and raced/daily driven and did that one at 200k
