Dumbest thing you've Heard people say about snowbike

So I was at a off road shop today and was talking about snowbikes with a friend. One of the mechs piped up and started dogging snowbikes... Oh they suck in the deep snow, can't jump them, and he even said they can't side hill. He told me he's ridden dozens of them.... Yeah right!

So what's the dumbest thing you've heard a non-snowbikemobiler (thanks Cody) say about why they don't like snowbikemobile!?

No I don't want to try your snowbike. Remember I rode your 2Moto in '09.
I don't like the trail manners. I don't believe they have improved any on the trail but the new one is a "little" better in the powder. I will stick with my sled.

It is like trying to get a Harley rider to ride your (any other brand) motorcycle.
Their head is in the sand and that is where they want it.

I have had a great reaction to my sled friends in New Hampshire and Quebec. A lot are saying they want one next year. It might be because the UFO looks so cool just sitting still. The two guys that tried it loved it and they had never ridden a snow bike before. Nobody could believe I didn't unload my Pro RMK the whole time when I went to Canada two weeks ago.

"Maybe if you work hard and save your money, you will be able to buy an entire sled next year."

"If you wanted a snowmobile you should have just bought a real one."

Both these guys are singing a different tune after riding with me.

"I'm just going to call that thing the mountain goat. It can go anywhere!"

"I want one."

Can you Evan go strait up a mountain ...... Now I mean a real mountain, like 9,500 feet of strait up hill. I'd like to see you go down the same way too, with out tipping it on to the side, boon docking you bikes can't be touched.:first: I will test to that, but strait up hi marking.... Show me they can put marks up on top and ill switch it up ...... Just stirring the pot you bikers [:argue:

Lol judging by your name we have no reply to your comment because you are the best at high marking. When I rode a sled I didn't even enjoy high marking, technical tree riding is where you find the real riders. Lost to many guys out there to climbing....

First day of this season I was bust apart high marks all day long. just tacked my way to the top and kept going. High marking for people with too much money and too much horse power and are low on skill

In the begining....

Old thread but I haven't been on here for years. Dumbest thing people have said about snow bikes..... where to start.

I have heard it all.
*Clutch wont work in the snow
*Can't get off the trail
*Not enough power to turn a track
*That thing won't work in the snow
*That thing is a death trap
*Waste of time and money
*Can't go were a sled will

I have a bit more history with snow bikes then most as I built my first one in 1999 and sold my first one in 2004. Back then everyone was a skeptic and it took years to gain some credibility. I remember at the 2005 SnoWest show in Boise standing next to my YZ450 demo in the Hinson Power Sport's booth and hearing some sledder proceeded to tell his buddy all the reasons why it wouldn't work...which of course was BS as we had ridden these bikes for three years and had thousands of miles on them. Everyone was an expert, lol.

Snowbikes have came a long way from back in the day...heck now you guys even have your own spot on the forum. :face-icon-small-coo

Since people started putting turbos on Yamahas, its not called" highmarking". It's called "climbing"

Just try to follow a bike. You won't (unless your name is Burandt)

A couple weeks ago I went into a sled shop to make a part purchase. The sales guy greeted me and right away started in on me about the Horse I had in the back of my truck. Comments such as "They can't ride down the trail" "They cant side hill" "They cant ride any type of powder" and the one that really took me back was "For 15,000 I can build a sled that will go twice as many places as that thing". Ummm...has he ever rode one? No.. Has he ever ridden with them out in the woods? No.... Obvious questions, and he obviously hasn't seen them perform. I respect sleds (I came from them and appreciate the riding i have done), but I also have a new found respect for the horse, and type of riding I do with my group (basically off-trail extreme boondocking, with all horses). Unfortunately I didn't make the purchase and left there with no desire to return. I hope he realizes and learns to respect that we all want to ride the mountain, and some of us want to do it on a sled, and some of us want to do it on a horse.

I get it all the time! I just have to laugh. I also carry videos of me riding on my phone and ipad so i can fire back. I'm going out with a rider this weekend to shut him up! Lol did it the weekend before also! People I find (including me) don't like finding out that they can be bested while they are on something they thought was the best. I keep an open mind when talking to sled ears but when they hear that I sold my sled shortly after riding a MH they are shocked! But then they get really defensive and start in on, we'll you must not have been a very good rider.... I'm no Chris B but I wasn't a noob either

No Way that thing will last ...

My family has been sledding for over 40 years ... After I purchased the TS and announced that I would be bringing it out on our next family sled fest (3 days of hunting powder), my brother was quick to highlight that he didn't want to wreck his trip as a result of my new fangled toy ... What about failures of bushings and bearings like those quad tractor POS? You better carry lots of extra fuel because we are not turning around because you run out! How the hell are you going to keep up with us in the powder? If we hit tight trees I'm not waiting for you!

I let him ride it a couple of weekends ago in the Flathead ... SILENCE! (he had to get one jab in ... "you better bring extra chain links because you are probably going to break a chain) ... Back at the house with a rum in hand ... He humbly proclaimed ..."I need to get one those powder/hill climbing/go anywhere monsters.

It only takes one ride to convert even the stubornest sledder!!!
