Dumb question about spring riding @snowies

I'm trying to get out for one last ride and my first ever for spring riding conditions this weekend and a few questions come to mind. Laugh if you want but please only answer if you have a legitimate response. Should a person completely avoid riding across lakes? Are there a lot of places where melting snow makes hard to see cuts in the snow like a stream? How is the avalanche danger affected by warm weather?

I would avoid riding across the lakes @ this time. You can still do it but with the higher temps. a lot of water starts settling between the ice on the lake and the snow on top. Trust me, don't get stuck in the middle of a lake with these conditions. Happened to 4 of us on Round Lake in Cooke City a few years back. It sucked! A month ago the meandering creeks started to open up so you should be able to see the drops down into them. As long as no big wet snowstorms hit and the sun is really hammering down the snowpack a person should be fairly safe hillclimbing but I would doublecheck before heading out! It's hero snow time!!! Hope this helps

If it looks like there is bad weather up there dont go there is no trail maker’s dont need ppl lost up there. The overhanging snow on the peaks and other areas are starting to fall off so be careful around them no telling when they will fall. Some areas the snow has slid down some and big cracks are showing so watch for them will not fill good if you hit them.
