Dumb Blonde Needs Hubby Fixed

My husbands crank went on his '06 900 last season and it's time to have it fixed and get him out of my hair. He's as computer illiterate as I am mechanically and after searching this site for hours I've still not gotten much I can tell him. Sounds like Indydan's fix is they way to go but he shot that down because of the cost. I was asked to search for the Mongoose rebuild but haven't been able to find any info so if anyone can elaborate I would be grateful. The feedback I'm reading on the Polaris kit is confusing so any input on that would be appreciated as well as any other suggestions. Thanks.

You should get in touch with GKR via snow west pm, he just did his this past summer, he is very technical and knows that machine inside out.

I went with the polaris crank kit part number 2203617 $857 at babbitts on my new build. i also went with new cases 2203111 $387 from babbitts

the crank kit comes with new 32mm crank, new 32mm primary clutch, new 321115 belt, gaskets, seals, and new clutch bolt. it doesn't come with exhaust valve gaskets or exhaust manifold gaskets.

any more questions feel free to pm me. i cranked my brothers last year with this kit and it worked fine. now i am doing it to mine with my 975 bigbore.

good luck

get ahold of SuperDave 3. He's a polaris tech that will do it with the OEM parts.

I went with the Polaris 900 crank kit also from Babbits. For the price its the only way to go.

My 900 also needed front motor mounts. They looked ok but when I put some force on them they were cracking in the center, pretty common for them to do this.

If you want to go for a cheap fix I still have my original 06 900 crank that I'll sell cheap. Nothing wrong with it just changed it out since I replaced the top end of my motor this summer.
