Dual Skag

I was curious to hear from those people who have actually ridden the new dual skag and how the handling compares to last years ski? I have a feeling I need one...

I know a couple of guys who took them off. Said the ski needed almost too much input to turn. They're both animals on bikes though!

The new dual skag is a fantastic upgrade. The only time I've found the bike needing more input than I would like is if the ground is super packed like concrete or half dirt/half snow. The dual skag is a huge improvement over the single carbide skag and when combined with the 10 inch ski the bike is a piece of cake on the trail.

If you want to know true horror, go find an old dual keel 6 inch ski. You'll be running back to the new ski setup and sending thank you letters to TS for all the development time they put into the design.

I used to ride the trail in a Z patern beacuse could not ride that ski stright for the life of me. Last years 10" is good enough for me

Hahaha exactly! You just ride from bank to bank on the trail and let the ski take you where it wants to go.

This is good to know as the curiosity's been lingering around about getting a steering dampener. Sounds like it's not needed with the 14 set up.

It's well worth it!!! I used to just be along for the ride when going down trails on the 6" ski. Last Saturday I rode over 40 miles of trail to get in and out of the deep snow. The trails were actually almost fun. lol

I think part of a demo ride should include riding a first year kit with fox floats and the 6" ski on the trail for a few miles! Everyone needs to experience that to appreciate the improvements that Timbersled has made!

The new ski + the suspension improvements make trail riding fun where it used to be a dreaded part of the day.

I had my first 2008 2moto Husaberg 650 with the 6" ski, out on Timbersled demo rides last year and only a few had the balls to even try it, let alone want to stay on that death trap.

Life is so much better now!!!!!! Thank you for all the ski development Timbersled!!!

I'm still recovering from that 6" ski!! And the one on my 2moto was the same. Your head was banging off the snow before you knew you fell over!!

flex arm, the ski and the skag. wow huge difference! rode the 2014 model today. MEGA different compared to the 2013 with the 6". snowbikeing just got even easyer.

If you hadn't ridden the new ski yet I think you would find it hard to tell if the dual skeg was helping , any one else tried the new skeg that rode the new ski before ?

My comments are based on the new ski with the single vs. dual carbide setup. I was mentioning the OLD ski simply because most new riders don't know what the rest of us initially had to deal with.

Is is very much worth the upgrade.

I rode the dual skag yesterday on a 2013 ski. It is a big difference over the single carbide. Worth the $100 in my opinion. No darting and easy to steer

I rode the new ski with single skag about 10 days last spring after about 80 days on the old 6" ski. It made the difference on trails between high revs in third and low revs in forth gear (terror, berserk, bizarre, sphincter pain) to high revs. in fifth and medium revs in sixth gear (a pleasure). I could easily keep up with all but the mad dog sledders on wooped up and icy trails. Much better in the powder as well.
I didn't try the dual skag because I didn't get it until the trails had some dirt and gravel, and didn't want to wreck my virgin dual skag. I had also heard that the dual skag was worse on ruts dirt and gravel and was more prone to plugging the ski at thawing temperatures.
I have the dual skag on now and am eager to try it soon.
I would appreciate any feed back from other riders on the above issues.
Also does any one have experience riding the new skags with and with out the new flex arm.

Sorry, the new skag is one piece but it looks similar to a pipe cut in half so it has two edges. I rode the new skag with a 2013 kit (no flex arm). Then I rode a 10 inch modified Simmons ski with old single carbide on the way back. Night and day difference! IMO, new skag we'll worth it to be in control instead of a passenger.

Just installed the dual skag and took here for a rip.

I did heat the skag with a propane torch so it would melt into the plastic a bit and seat more perfect.

Let me tell you -- it is all it was supposed to be and more.

No more darting just rails love it worth every penny.

In the conditions right now Hard pack with 7" of fluff on it

steering effort feels less than the single runner with it actually going straight

there is much less impute needed anyway.

I just picked one up. Can't wait to try it out. Hopefully it's a bit better on hardpack also.
