My wife and I are traveling in her 07 Dodge Mini and expect to cross Snoqualmie 4/13. We have OEM all season Bridgestones with good tread. Do I need to put snows on it to get over the pass. These tires and traction control work OK in Colorado but I've heard we may need chains:(. Any susggestions would be appeciated, thanks

You'll be fine regarding snow this late in the year. If hitting it early in the day, watch the temps and beware of black ice......Over the years, I've seen a lot of crashes from the idiot in the SUV that passes me at 80 and hits the ice at the top......The temp is posted on certain road signs for you......

Here is the current WSDOT report

Temperature: 30ºF / -1ºC
Elevation: 3022 feet / 921 meters

Restrictions Eastbound:
Chains required on all vehicles except all wheel drive, Oversize Vehicles Prohibited.

Restrictions Westbound:
Chains required on all vehicles except all wheel drive, Oversize Vehicles Prohibited.

Conditions & Weather:
Snow & slush on the roadway. // Snowing

If it was me, I'd take chains. Most likely though you'll be fine if you watch the reports and hit it mid day. Heck, by the time you get there it might be bare, dry and 50 degrees but then again...

you should be fine.... especially around mid april. I used to cross that pass every weekend with a 5.0 Mustang and typically did not use chains too often. They do a good job of keeping the road clear.

If you have chains then you should be covered for sure!

Thanks for all the replies---I just got myself a set of cable chains which I'll probabaly never use but good insurance anyway. Sonqualmie is legendary, a big rep even here in Colorado. Thanks again:beer;:beer;,

Wow ! we drive in the big time! You should have no problem at all . The real problem is the ski area brings out all the bad drivers who drive in the snow 4 times a year.
