Driveshaft splines striped in cpl hours after Silber turbo installed

Jackshaft splines striped in cpl hours after Silber turbo installed

After installing both kits a buddy & I finally got a chance to go for a good rip with our Silber turbos at Brandywine. He's riding a 2013 RMK 163 & I got a 2013 XM 154. A side from a little bog it pulls like a freight train. Conditions were pretty hard, really wish they got more snow but sure does make it easy to wheelie up the hills. Would prefer the sealed units as well. Both of ours were leaking a bit of oil.

We got way into the back country & buddy said he's machine felt like it was slipping. Told him to change his belt, mine blew along the trail but was the original 1, & hopefully that would fix it. Did & the problem was still there. I tried it & knew right away the splines for the secondary were gone. He has a 2012 pro that a buddy of his was riding so we tried the secondary off it to test if the clutch or the jackshaft was toast. Unfortunately it was the jackshaft. We had to leave it way back to get it helied out.

Sure this is not the 1st time it has happened. Does anyone make a stronger one? Don't want this to happen again.

What side of the drive shaft? Being a 2013 there should have been a clamp on the right hand side of the drive shaft.

You can run a 2011/2012 drive shaft, also.

The shaft the secondary mounts to would be the jack shaft, the drive shaft is under the sled with the drivers for the track. Did the splines on the jack shaft at the secondary strip? That would be surprising, never heard of that failing.

he must have stripped the jack shaft thats weird i have never seen one go
he should see if the dealer will help him out if not order a new jack shaft and install its fairly easy job that does suck :face-icon-small-dis
good luck

If either the clutch or the shaft stripped, then it missed the heat treating process and as such would qualify for warranty replacement. But even without heat treat it should not have failed. Pics?

Sorry my bad, gotta correct the topic. It's actually the Jack Shaft. Will post pics once it's back at my shop. Buddy has to drive back to Whistler tomorrow to pick it up from the Heli place. They say it took 30 min so gonna be a nice $1,000. Ruff!!!!

So my buddy got it home, pulls off the other side cover &....................

The belt got ripped to shreds. Can't believe we didn't check it up there. We both just assumed it was the splines by the way it felt. So use to working on Skidoo's I didn't even think of it. Ahhhhhhhh. What can ya do. He's going to be looking for a stronger belt drive anyhow. Still worried about the drive shaft too.
