I was pulling my drive shaft so I could change the track and other stuff. when I pulled my speedo housing I noticed that something wasn't right I didn't, It seemed like there was something missing, but I did not think any thing of it until I got the drive shaft out, then I realized that something was very wrong. I noticed the speedo end was very worn and ridged, see pics. as you can see this is every thing I found in the speedo housing when I pulled it apart. Any help is very appreciated, and if I do nee a new drive I'm in the market for one. Thanks.IMG_2877.jpgIMG_2876.jpgIMG_2874.jpg

What is the race?

Inner bearing Race, bearing seized causing the shaft to spin inside the bearing, because the bearing is heat treated the drive shaft is worn way passed it's servicable limits and needs to be replaced along with the bearing and any other defects while apart.

Yep you need a new shaft & bearing etc ...

Pick up a used one on Ebay for $35 used and up.

Wow what interval did you grease the bearing?
I greased the bearing religiously, but I don't know about the previous owner. Thanks for all the reply's, and if anyone has a line on a cheap drive shaft that will fit an 07 600 rmk 155 let me know doesn't need to have driver, 'cause I've got a pair of avid combos I was going to put on this shaft, but apparently it wasn't meant to be.:face-icon-small-dis

I've seen those at the Puyallup swap meet. The next one is in a couple weeks. I'd be willing to broker one up to you if you haven't found one by then.

Found a shaft off an 09 assault on ebay does anybody know if it would work on my 07 600 155''? http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-POLARIS-...Parts_Accessories&hash=item4608316b8e&vxp=mtr

There is a "make offer" tab on that auction ... make an offer below what you would pay and then tell him what is going on here on SNOWEST. If he doesnt cut you a deal dont do business with him. You can make 3 offers before Ebay stops you from making any more offers and yoy are just suppose to buy it now.

On the outer part of the bearing are numbers telling you what kind of bearing it is . Bearings NOT from Polaris but just as good are only a few dollars each.

Sealed bearing

I have noticed there is a grease zerk on the bearing cover, but the only problem is that Polaris installs a sealed bearing on the end of the drive shaft under the cover and greasing the zerk is useless. I lost a bearing on our 600, it makes a different sound when it's failing.

PIN-HOLED OUTER RACE

Look for the "PIN HOLE" located in the outer race of the bearing.

Sometimes there's 2 pinholes on "both sides of center" so that the bearing can't be installed wrong onto the drive-shaft.

NOTE: some "generic" bearings have NO pinholes at all!!!

Upon installation, ALIGN the pin hole with the Grease fitting (12:00 position and outside of center on IQ's)

(Same situation on the EDGE and older jack-shaft bearing)

Grease often.

BTW, The Bearing needs to be sealed to prevent the sand/dirt/grit from entering the bearing from the underside/track-side.

Hope this helps
