anyone happen to know the diameter of a 2001 700rmks driveshaft?

Yes 1" is correct . You can use a 03 -05 edge shaft if you want a 1-1/6 " shaft it is about 5/16" shorter than the gen2 but if you use the bearing from a gen2 or wedge it works great.
