Sad to see winter go, but I'm stoked. Only had 7 points and September won't come fast enough!!!! I've never even stepped foot on this unit, so if you have any help, I'd love it.

Congrats on the tag! I have 13 points and can't draw a tag in this state to save my life...
I have seen the quality of bulls that come off that unit and you are in for a great hunt.

That unit is AWESOME! I would rather hunt elk there than anywhere else. Huge congrats. If I were you I would take a trip down there in July just to familiarize yourself with the unit. I personally wouldn't make multiple scout trips because where you find the elk in the summer is not where they will be once they start rutting. There are literally great elk all over that unit. If you camp on the mountain, you can wake up to bugling elk only a few hundred yards in each direction. I would spend the last two weeks of the hunt down there and hunt every day until you take one.

Again, awesome, awesome hunt.

More or less what I'm planning. I'll do a 'scout' trip to learn roads and vantage points and head back to hunt Labor day.

Congrats. Me and the kids drew our deer tags and nothing else.

Tuesday we find out if we drew anything in Colorado.

MOOSE

Drew a UT Moose tag - 10 pts! Odds last year with 10 pts were less than 3%! Vegas trip in order!

Here's hoping for CO deer this year... I'm due.

East Canyon - Morgan/Summit unit. Not the best unit, but I've sure seen some bruisers in it over the years.

I'm actually not sure now if I drew it or my father did. Had same points and both on my CC. Only one of us drew. Either way... hunting swamp donkeys this year should be fun!

We saw several moose (meese, meeses, mooses) up East Canyon last year on the elk hunt.

I just checked, drew a first rifle elk tag in Colorado :-)

Last winter on the late cow elk hunt I saw the biggest moose I have seen in 10 plus years of hunting in Utah. He was up East canyon a ways .... When is the hunt? I spend a lot of time up there in the fall and could let you know if I see a good one.

Will take all leads on big swamper donks! :)

SG - Awesome on 1st season rifle elk, what GMU? I took a decent lookin ~295 bull last year in CO, 3rd season rifle, OTC DIY on public land. Did you check the back door deal for CO to see you drew already? I reeeeaaalllly hope I'm hunting deer in CO, 3rd season this year. I'm due!!

I can't wait to start the scouting fun!

I'm in unit 21... it was my second choice so I still get my preference point. I found a page that showed me results before they were 'official'. It also shows I have another deer preference point which means I didn't draw my first choice deer over there. :(

But I'm hunting elk again this year and that is not a bad thing!

Take Spencer up on his offer on East Canyon, he knows it better than anyone and was kind enough to show me some areas up there for my daughter to hunt last year.

You are a lucky SOB, Pauly!! Let me know when you head to Vegas, and I will give you a couple bucks!! LOL:tea:

Hunting elk is my passion - so I hear that!

Well, It's shaping up to be a good year! Not sure what unit yet - but drew CO deer. Private ground 3 or public 11, 3rd season rifle. SWEEEET!

Stevie - when we getting together now that you live closer - oh wait - I moved!!!
