Lol, so excited that I can't sleep! Just checked the game and fish website and they have posted the draw for elk. I will be going to the mountain with a bull tag in my pocket!!!

It just so happens that the season is about 15 days and I've got three weeks of vacation that I intend to use this year. Work is going to hate me but I will beg and plead, cross your fingers for me.

How are the rest of you looking for this fall?

picked up my sportsman package while i was home, deer and elk......$2 total

last year i'll get the military package....and the first i wont be on duty during the season in 3 years....hopefully will finally get to shoot something

supper cool! Me and my son drew either sex tags. It will be his first hunt . I am very excited. It will be my first hunt since selling my business and going to work for someone else which means i can actually take some days off and enjoy it.

CONGRATS Steph. Drawing that tag....that's always a nice victory.
Better put up some glory shots in October when you knock him down!!

Just an OTC either sex tag. SAving for that special unit in NW CO. Elk look great this season so hopefully we get some rain in order to keep them fed. I hope that the rut comes early or on time, not late like last season.

Is it a tag for a special area? I used to put in religiously, but have gotten lax on it for the last few years. I hunt on public land, but also lease a ranch with some friends in a general tag area. We don't really shoot very big bulls, but we do manage to get an elk every year. As the years have passed I have come to realize that I really enjoy taking first timers, or people who don't hunt that much. That is almost more enjoyable for me.

On another note, a good friend of mine drew a 482 either sex sheep tag. Pretty much the holy grail of tags to draw. That should be a fun hunt...

It's a draw only area on forest service land so it's a bit quieter then the general areas around here. It's my favorite area to hunt, lots of cool spots and normally see elk every time we go out. Not know for monster bulls but it does seem to produce a lot in the 300-330 range.

This is my first bull tag, so it makes it really special to me. Not expecting to even get one but looking forward to giving it my best try! Just getting close is half the fun!

Going to spend a long 4th of July weekend in my elk area, doing some scouting, putting some miles on, and getting out of the heat. :face-icon-small-hap

polaris dude, a bison tag, now that is cool!

That's the guy who got the sheep tag instead of me! Jk. There are some huge rams out there now. Knew a guy who go the tag last year, watched over 60 rams at least 185. Ended up killing a 204

Reading these posts makes me realize how fortunate we are up here. I don't have to draw to hunt elk, moose, deer, bear, caribou, sheep, goat. Some of them require a lot of work/money to get to the open areas, but still are open to all BC residents.

Best of luck with your elk draw WYsteph!!!
