Dragon shock problem? Length?

C

Somewhere between too dumb to quit and flat earth
I just got my dragon home and from my first ride i know for a fact that the shocks are WAY to soft for my likeing. So.... I want to put my Fox Evol X shocks on from my IQR.

Granted i know this is not ideal but what could it hurt? The shocks off the IQR are 1" longer than the stockers, but i don't see this as a problem. This is only a temporary fix however. I plan on getting new holz or Z-broz a-arms that are wider to use the longer shock. Just wondering if there will be any serious problems.

Thanks!

go to fox's website and download the setup instructions..there in lies your answer...

cut and paste from PG 5-8
step 4 Lower the vehicle off the stand. Measure and set rider sag, as described in your owners manual. To increase the ride height increase the air pressure in the MAIN air chamber using the FOX standard pump. To lower the vehicle ride height decrease the pressure in the MAIN air chamber using the FOX standard pump.

Try this as it's a bit more understandable....

Now according to an expert whom I asked the question of wether or not there are variable shock lengths for the Fox Evol X he said no they are all standard and you adjust your eye to eye or ride height with this method. Now quite possibly he misunderstood my question and there is a different version for these shocks per brand but that was what I asked and that is what they stated. So take that for what it's worth...ie second hand info..or call fox tech support to know for sure.

stand your sled fully extend your suspension...set evol pressure to your specs ...set main pressure to 50lbs. Put the sled down and check ride height. Reduce main chamber pressure and push down or load the front suspension to achieve required ride height. Watch for a return...it should stay as you set it. Now if you find the total package to be too soft or squishy after all other adjustments while keeping the front suspension in it's ride height position increase main chamber pressure slightly.

Those 1" shafts on the WE's do keep them from bottoming out, but they are very soft in the beginning and middle of the stroked. I didnt like them either. Gave the sled too much body roll for a tipsy sled. Put Fox Zero Pros on, much better

SW'er "gerrman" had a pair of almost new Fox Float 2's for sale, might PM him if interested.

Thanks Rob !

I will go install the shocks right now :face-icon-small-hap

I took the advice from some members of this site and had my stock Walker Evans air shocks ( ski shocks and front track shock ) pumped up to about 225 psi. Turned my sled into a wheely pullin unturnable piece of crap!!! I had them re-set to stock pressures and the sled is a joy to ride again. The soft ski shocks make it much easier to pull the sled over in the deep snow, your experience may be different.

stock shocks are great for boondocking. Only problem is that i spend most my time in the air.....so i need something stiffer.

My stock shocks ARE for sale. $400 shipped. They retail for $370 a shock new.
