dragon or a rev xp?

People are always brand loyal what they ride is the best so I would not take anyones word for it. Esspecially mine I can't ride the xp worth a crap. They are completely different rides you'll have to ride them both first and choose that's what I did.

I would defiantly ride both sleds, and dont let anyone persaud you to just one sled. Like said before we are all brand loyal.
P.S POLARIS is best! :beer;

Which do i buy a dragon or a xp? Has anyone rode both and have a preference?

Dragon owners will tell you get the D8.

Xp owners will tell you get the Summit8.

Both are great sleds, both have their issues, get the one that you can get the best deal on, that has a reputable dealer close-by, and try and ride both to see which "feels" better to you.

I've ridden both as well. My choice is the Dragon for my style of ride. My buddy has the XP and it def. works better for him. But even he will say that the XP took some money to get it where he wanted it for boondocking (different front and shock package). As many have said, you need to ride them and get the one that you like better.

I ride a cat M series (steers like the dragon) & also have a cat race sled (steers like the rev), I don't own a poo or doo, so not really loyal to either.

I would go polaris any day, better handling, better steering, and unless you get one of the bad motors, more reliable.

If you can stand the way the XP rides, it might be the one for you though, totally different machine.

I own both

I have a 08 d-8 163 w/ pipe and 09 xp 154 ,I like the d-8 better in almost all situations . It might just be the d-8 I have runs so strong.

Even in real deep powder where I thought the xp would be better, from what everyone told me.
The d-8 will get higher and further everytime.
Kinda bought the xp for deep days .

For what it is worth...I rode last year on my 09 D8 and never had a single issue with the motor or sled (knock on wood). I know there were issues out there, but just letting you know that it didn't happen to everyone. The new dual ring pistons and map changes should solidify that.

true, and like you say, the d8 can be made to lose those issues. and not all XPs blow belts. but seems to be a common problem. and the XPs can be modified to not blow belts. i just wanted the guy to know the some common problems with each, and good to hear not everyone has problems with d8s .

Ya, my dads d8 hasn't blown either, and hopefully no time soon. But like said above the new dual ring pistons should make them an even stronger running sled.

Just my $.02, stay away from the XP unless you have plenty of time and patience to learn how to ride that thing!!! The Dragon, just hop on and go, you'll love it!
I spent a few days riding with the crew from Am Sno magazine, we rode with TJ of Lincoln County Customs, and others, everytime we went out, AM Sno had a trailer full.. We had a Nytro, an XP, a Dragon and an M8, the XP sat in the trailer every ride.... No one wanted to ride that thing; yes they're light, yes they have good power, they just take too much time to learn how to ride.
Buy what you want, but before you lay down the cash, I'd say go spend some time on each of them and make up your own mind..

.

I agree wth that some what. I have one, but I feel it puts you in a way better riding stance then any other sled I've ridin this year, hands down.. Once you get the few hickups out, they rip like no other..

I think they did something different to the front ends in 08, cause mine wanted to pull me into every rock on the mountian this year. maybe job security ??? haha

Haven't rode the XP, but did get to thrash on a few Dragons this season.

I gotta say that I've never been on a sled that was as "right", right out of the box as the Dragon it. At least for me.

If I didn't love my 09 Cat so much (and wasn't scared of the engine issues that some Poo's had) I'd be riding one for SURE.

I have a 05 rev 800 right now. Runs great love it to death but i just want a new sled. My buddy has a dragon it kicks ***. But i've rode the xp and dragon and liked the xp. I was just wanting to know which performs the best. Which could i get for cheaper too? I heard that clutching makes the xp. Is the stock clutching good or do i want to look for one with aftermarket clutch?
