Double Stacked Stock Reeds really do work

hatchers

pulled my reeds out to see how bad it was, and they looked perfect, yes i said that right

- double stacked stock M1000 reeds, no cutting, no nothing
- over 1000 miles

my best rough guess of boost levels and mileage:
- 800 miles at 13 lbs
- 50 miles at 16-20+ lbs.....never had the flipper down for more then 5 secs at 20+lbs
- and 200 miles at 8 lbs

so, think twice before you buy some NASCAR reeds:face-icon-small-sho:light:....i swear my tony dookie reeds would not last longer then single stockers

another fun fact: doing a top end for fun, and the jugs/pistons/shirts look great, piston pin came out like butter, i give much credit to syn redline oil:face-icon-small-coo

Agreed!

I stacked 7s over 1000s in my bigbore turbo all season....not a mark on em!

I didn't run big boost however...10-11#

Stacked has my vote...Old m1000 reeds on top of new m8 reeds. Boost from 7 -14 # 90% of riding at 9 # on straight 91 maverick gas.

.. You guys definatly expose your reeds to prolonged heat ,, for me its 4 seconds then shut down.....but doubled CAT stock reeds work flawlessly in my DOOS at stupid high boost levels too..

Gus

next, try drilling 3 sets of 4mm holes down each petal of the top reed. My feelings are the top reed is more of a damper, limiting the twist at the tips that frett the material.

the reduction in TENSION from drilling top reed makes me feel like I helped it some on low end..
( read MAKES ME FEEL ) as just my gut feelings, no real inertia dyno testing just my ear and butt feelings.

I still run 28 psi without issue all last saeson,, in both the 800 and 995.

cool

have a good summer

double stacked

just looked at mine they look great, except one side does not close all the way, could this be a problem, tried flipping it around and same thing, it's just a hair open compared to the other one's. If i remove one of the reeds it closes all the way. running 12 to 13 psi on m1000.
