Door locks on a chevy crew cab

04 crew and the back doors don't lock with either the key fob or the electric locks on either front door. They unlock just fine................hmmmmmmmmmm

Any ideas.

I bought a Chiltons manual and it's so generic that it really doesn't guide me much.

Maybe the lock and unlock run on different fuses?

Could be deactivated in the computer. I know Ford pickups you can deactivate the seatbelt chime and the auto door locks by a sequence printed in the owners manual that shows you how many times and how far you cycle the key in the ignition and.or in combination to buckling or unbuckling the seatbelt. Not sure if you have to do it with a computer hookup at the dealership.

scenario: Installing stereo in 2004 Chevy 2500. unhook batteries on truck, remove door covers. install new speakers. reinstall door covers. forget to plug in driver side rear door lock - window plug. when you hook up batteries and turn on key, truck ecu does a diagnostic. sees no driver side rear door. truck now thinks door is not working and will not send a signal again.

You have to go to the dealer for this and they have to reprogram your ecu.

This might be an issue for you. From experience.

Try switching the lock and unlock relays to see if the problem switches to no lock. they should be in the fuse block on the drivers side of the dash
