Dog trees mountain lion.

I was watching Americas Funniest Videos tonight, they had a clip of a hound chasing a cat up a tree, the dog grabbed the lion by the tail just as it started climbing, the dog didn't let go and the lion didn't stop climbing, the cat pulled the dog about 20 feet up the tree before it let go, didn't hardly slow the lion up. It was pretty wild. I have been looking online for the clip but can't find it. Did anyone else see it?

Friend of mine runs hounds in New Mexico for lions and bears. He had a Walker hound named Squirrel. If the cat bayed in a Ponderosa with low enough branches that dog would climb the tree by hopping from branch to branch. On my very first lion hunt tag-a-long I saw him 40 feet up a tree just below swiping distance from a Booner tomcat.

On that hunt the cat bayed in some rocks a few minutes before and a couple of the other dogs got tagged. As soon as the cat went up the tree my friend started stitching up the hurt dogs. I noticed the dog hopping the branches and said to my friend "Hey Glenn one of the dogs is climbing the tree after the lion." He just smiled that proud papa smile and said "Yep. The good'uns will do that. That's why I call him Squirrel."

Squirrel's been dead 20 years but he was one hell of a lion hound

LOL...well then there aren't very many "good" ones.

BTW, I saw a kid with a 3 wolf shirt last week. I told him I was proud of him.
