Does your state require a headlight and a tail light for legal use of snowmobiles?

I know many states have laws requiring the use of headlights on sleds. Often these are not enforced.
I am trying to compile a list of states that require headlight and tail lights or just headlights.Mostly for the snowbike riders
Thanks in advance..

State of South Dakota requires use of a headlight and taillight during the hours of darkness and only on a highway (which includes the entire right of way including the ditch). One restriction you will find which will affect snowbikes is to operate on a snowmobile trail they will need to be licensed as a snowmobile.

Thanks
What I see happening as more snowbikes start hitting the trails is riders getting tickets for no lights,I got jacked in Mt last year.
By compiling a list of states that require lights on sleds we may save a few guys from getting a ticket. I also happen to know a guy:yo: who can help get them setup with good lights on any bike or sleds.:bounce:

california ... oh ya

plus they will check the DOT stamp on the exhaust

Thanks for all the replies.
I got jacked for no lights last year in Cooke Cuty,During daylight.
I didn't get a ticket but was stopped. Now that I'm doing my research I see MT only requires lights from dusk till dawn, so I have to wonder what was up with the officer in Cooke?

Montana State law states you also have to have head and tail lights anytime you are operating on a roadway that is also open to motor vehicle traffic and you also have to have your drivers license while you are operating on the road.

Do you know what agency you were dealing with, Fish and Game, local law, or the U.S. forest service???
