Does WY title sleds

Picked up a sled last week from a guy from Cokeville, WY, he said WY didn't have titles for sleds.

I could be wrong, but I believe Wyoming started titling snowmobiles in January 2010! Not sure if this was for brand new sleds only or if it included buying used ones!

Out of the ~10 sleds my family has owned/currently owns, none have titles. Newest sled was bought just about a year ago...no title. So even if they did start last year; there are going to be a TON of sleds around with no title.

EDIT: Live right smack dab in the middle of nowhere in WY. :D

titles

Wyoming required all snomobiles sold after dec 31 2009 to be titled all you need is a bill of sale and they will make you a title.

So it seems that in WY all you need to do is find a sled, take it, put it up for sale, sell it, collect the cash and disappear. You don't need to prove ownership of a sled over there??? Makes it real nice for us in SD that need to title them, especially when the local county agents just follow the book and if you show up without a registration or title, you go back home and figure out a way to get one. There goes half a day I'll never get back.....

WY just started the title thing a year ago. You should get a notarized signature on a bill of sale when you buy anything not titled. I went through Wyomings' new process with a used boat that I bought in Denver. It was a pain in the a$$. Had a notarized signature from the seller but it wasn't on the WY approved piece of paper. Had to mail that to the guy and have him go thru the same BS again. Good luck with the SD process. The titling thing may be newer in WY but it seems the state has made just as big a mess of it.:face-icon-small-sad
