The Primary spring pushes the clutch sheave open the arms push the sheave into the belt.

A balance between primary pin/roller/arm weight, primary spring, secondary spring and load.

Does the primary spring squeeze the belt.

I say no, the primary spring resists belt squeeze.

A stiffer primary spring raises engagement rpm. The primary spring opposes and therefore regulates the primary weights/ramps squeeze on the belt.

If there is no primary spring, the clutch will squeeze the belt sooner and with more force.

So.... I'm will be one of the guys who says the primary will squeeze the belt with no spring present.

Feel free to show me the error in my thought process, or lack thereof.
