Recently this happened in my backyard. unfortunately this Vet will pay a price. Yes!!! this is the USA, Yes!! he fought for our rights and freedoms that we hold dear, Which include the right to be ignorant.
Unfortunately there is not a right to damage other people's property and I am sure he will pay for that one. and now to quote a line in a movie "no that is not a knife, This is a knife"

Ignorance on the part of the store owner not the vet Just to be clear here

I said...... is ignorance an excuse the shop owner can use for breaking the law and hanging the Mexican flag over the stairs and stripes.

Just thought it was an really interesting dichotomy of actions to see this Vet call up a TV News station (or should i say a unidentified person called the news station) telling them about someone who was flying the Mexican flag over the our flag and breaking known laws by doing so. Then wait until they show up to investigate. Run up cause a scene and rant about how he fought for People's freedom in this country like say the freedom to put a flag on top of their own business and how it is wrong all the while breaking the law himself by vandalizing someone's personal property in front of a news camera. The excuse the shop owner used was that he did not know it was wrong and was just trying to show his pride of nationality

Just thought it would be interesting to see what people had to say about it. Does that explain my point better 05900

I got your point and the gist of the post....lived in border towns many a year.
Pulling the flag down .. excellent. Don't know about the news crew and the timing.
Try flying the stars and stripes in Mexico to support your community..:face-icon-small-dis

Ignorantia juris non excusat..? Be interesting to see the "fall out" in the "community".

Yea it will be interesting to see what happens because we do have a small gang problem here and they are not stupid when it comes to things like this Disrespecting their people and nationality as he did with throwing their flag on the ground is sure to stir up some trouble for him in the long run.

They will react to that in much the same manner as people in this country do when our flag is disrespected. It is only my guess that the Vet is the one that tipped the news media just because of the timing of the whole thing.

It is one of this things that i think everyone can stand behind this Vet. and what he did. However 2 wrongs don't make it right but on the other hand 2 Wrights can make a plane:face-icon-small-ton

Seems a bit excessive in all honesty....I bet half the population is unaware of that law. Most people would think breaking the law entails causing inconveinience/discomfort/harm/danger, costing money, etc. This is fairly benign unless someone did it intentionally to cause offence....even then, that's a bit sensitive IMO. But the USA is much more into the flag thing than we are up here...so maybe Im underestimating the awareness. The dude could have talked to the store owners first...probably a less controversial first step.
