Does anyone know if there is a snowmobile club in the eagle/vail valley? Thanks

The reason I ask is that they are in danger of loseing a ton of riding area permantly and I wonder what they are doing about it or if they are even aware?

This thing is as real as it gets and these people are trying to push it thru congress this YEAR! Not next 10 years from now, this fall.

Sean and I went to one of the meetings last night, I will tell you this is very real and very scary. The areas include Basalt Mountain, Wildcat, Red Tables, Thompson Creek (clear to Electric Mtn Lodge) this year, and the Flattops (from I 70 north) yes almost all of them, to follow suit.

Hey there Farmer,

Yes, our club does exist and we are very aware of the White River National Forest (Proposed) Plan. Seems like every year there is another plan to pinch off more riding areas. It's rough and activists are even trying to take some of our grooming areas. I met with CSA (Colorado Snowmobile Association) last weekend in GJ to discuss this among other topics. It's enough to give you a headache with all the proposed closures. We are fighting it every step.

We need more people to join the clubs in Colorado. It's not the money but the numbers that make a big difference. It's only $35 and that give you membership to our local club and CSA. I figure if we can spend as much as $9,000 -$11,000 for new sleds that we can pay $35! Contact me or visit our website (in my signature) for more information.

Same BS is going on in North Routt County by SLO. That is where we had our forum ride last season.

BugIto, you have hit it on the head. It's always something new or some new angle with these groups. I am the President of the Mt Sopris Rec Riders Club over in Carbondale and we are trying to get our game plan together as we speak. We are trying to figure out the best course of action on what we can do to help stem the tide of this cr@p in our area. I was just curious to hear what your club had come up with and see if we might be able to do a little cordinating between clubs.

Hey Sean,

I made a comment on this topic in the General section. I replied to your email and have already forwarded your email to our club members. Keep me in the loop. I will get more information on our webpage today and put it on the main page as well. The good news is that CSA is involved and they work hard at eliminating these threats. More to come...
