Does Cat Regret Building the ProClimb???

Polaris will never get the Suzuki built cat engine. That engine is patented by cat and subbed to Suzuki to be built. That engine will never end up in another brand sled, except maybe a yammy!

Plus it is dirty and not EPA compliant. That is what makes it last.

Haven't you already said that? Do you really have to repeat your speculations? The Ski-Doo and Polaris' 800's didn't last when they where (dirty) either, and they still don't last.

Not saying anything bad about Cat, I think it is a great motor. I just feel it brings a lot of uncertainty to the future of that motor and the future of a 2 stroke 800 in the Cat line up.

Trust me I have had a lot of old technology dirty motors that went 8000 plus miles with out ever even opening the motor and looking at pistons. My 01 Polaris 800 didn't even have power valves. Had 8000 plus miles on it with out ever opening the motor. It was a strong runner too. Now days that is almost unheard of. Never heard of a etec or a cfi going that many miles.

its strange though...my dirty vehicle engines in the 60s/70s/80s got 60 to 100 thousand miles...the new clean engines easily get 250 thousand..
but I sure love that 800 Suzuki..i reckon chances are that Honda will be building one similar for polaris in the near future..as well as the polaris 4 strokes..

lots of interesting things gonna happen and the Yammi/cat is starting the new game..

Oh man... If honda built an engine for sleds, I would be all over it.... Ride red!!

Who gives a Chit! Drink your favorite Koolaid, STFU & ride. Im done bitchin about this chassis. I gotta Gym membership, if I have to drag this fat sob to the top on my back, so be it:face-icon-small-win.

Seriously though, 99% of us can't ride any of these sleds to there full potential. So just be happy with what you got...

Unless it's a belt blower, no excuse for that.

I rode Cat for many years, M7, M8, M1000. I definately loved the '10 M8, epic mtn sled, nobody could touch it. When shopping for a new sled this season, I tried them all. I am now the only Polaris rider in our group. Yesterday there were ten sleds out, one Poo, 3-4 Cats and bunch of Doo's. The only sled that had any hope of hanging with my '13 Pro was my 150 lb buddy on his XM. I outweight him by about 75 lbs. The XM and Pro were the only sleds tracking up the deep stuff. I bet you at least three of those guys show up at the Poo dealer this morning after their schooling yesterday.

I haven't even seen a new Cat on the snow. Cat sales are so bad here in the big mtns that the dealer left town. Just Poo and Doo left, and the Doo can't hold a candle the ridability of the Pro.

And eys, I am one of those who believes that I can live with a questionable motor but not a slug of a chassis. Cat lost me as a customer because they didn't take the mountain segment seriously.

Too bad you didn't have a 2014 M8 to ride with you. Yesterday where I got stuck the 2014 DOO in our group couldn't get to me up in the steep and deep sugar like powder to help me dig out...he had to walk to get to me. Might want to try a 2014 M8 next time.

The ONLY place the poo is better than Cat is on an extreme sidehill, and that is only cause I read it on here. In real life, I haven't seen it. The Cat is a good sled, probably the best overall sled for '14. I honestly have not seen anything the Doo can do better. That said, they are all good sleds and I could ride any of them. I chose the Cat cause of my dealer and I believe it is the best on the snow. Till someone proves me wrong other than the keyboard jockeys on here, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. :face-icon-small-coo

I rode with plenty of '01 and '02 polaris RMK's. Not one of them even thought about going 4000 miles let alone 8000.

Bummer for them. The 02 with exhuast valves was slower than mine. Mine was not an RMK it was a shorty how else would you get that kind of miles in 3 years.

I have to agree with you and thunder. I rented a '13 800 153"at Togwotee last year to try. The only thing good about it was the motor(only blew 1 belt in 3 days). That pos would get stuck pointed DOWNHILL mind you, coming to a stop for a water break!!! Everyone in our group was getting pissed off cause everyone was sucking air just getting it unstuck! Each day we came back in everyone asked if a Poo was available the next day.
I know its a rental and could probably use suspension adjustments, but the rental Poo's had no problems. We all switched cause everyone wanted to try it. No one in our group will be getting one anytime soon.

I have also seen quite a few new sled films that have just came out.....not many pro climbs in any of them. Just saying. I hope the '14 is better , I really do!

As much as I dont like seeing them get together with Yamaha. I do believe they will do great things, its just sad they can't do it on there own. Its just the world we live in now a days.

I'm bashing the pro climb sled and not Cat as a company. As I'm wanting to get a ZR 600 next year after the new 6 has a year under its belt, just fyi.

I am not sure why you would say this. The new Cat designed and produced 600 C-TEC2 is in the hands of consumers in both flat and mountain versions right now. They have an 800 version of it no question. How good will the motors be...time will tell but they have a pretty good handle on these IMO.

You do realize how it makes you sound comparing to previous year sleds right? Should I get rid of my 1966 Corvette because the 1953-1954 Corvette was junk? WAIT, a friend has a 1999 Polaris that gets stuck aytime he tries to follow us does that count?

Ride a 2014 so you can make an intelligent comparison....please.

Pretty positive that cat in 2015 will have its own 800. Thats why I bought the 2014, for the suzuki 800. I wont be buying a 1st or 2nd year cat with the new 800 for sure. From what I have been hearing the new 600 has been having some growing pains already. The motor is 10pds lighter than the suzuki 600 and that means thinner castings and cylinders for the most part. Thinner and lighter doesnt mean stronger! Time will tell.

I would give that new motor 2 to 3 years, it took that long for them to get the proclimb chassis to work decent!

The weight loss is from the crank. Cant believe everything you hear. You should read up before you make assumptions

I ain't going to read no article to convince me that 10 pound savings were all from the crank...I call bs on that.... jmho

I don't think I've read this many PAINFUL brand loyal comments from each side in any other thread in quite a while. This is some FUNNY SH**!!!!!

Cat's chassis has some issues, but they're fixable. Still the best motor out there, period. It's not what I ride, and I still couldn't ride a stocker... but it's a solid contender.
The XM IMO handles great unlike any previous doo since 2003, has a great engine and still gets totalled from a dam pine cone. I've taken two small hits, fully braced... and mine is all bent up.
The pro imo is stillt he best chassis on the snow... some say you have to be riding the extreme to see this, I say 100% BS. Some say it's weak, got to disagree there too. Main issue is motor and general reliability... and that's a SERIOUS issue.

Funny, they all seem to have issues & they're all pretty badazz. I'm still pissed about my 12 PC, absolutely hated that POS, but pretty sure after another hit or two I'll be about as disgusted with this XM too. A sled that can't be ridden aggressively without constantly worrying about it ending up in the scrap pile is something I can't put up with. Just like the cat needs the BDX front end to not have the strength of an XP... I'm still working on the solution for the doo. New lower A arms will be on the way next week.
