I got 5050 miles out of a 2002 pol Edge RMK 700 144 and I warm oil at night in room or motorhome. 110 compression at 8500 feet after 5050 miles , 6years. NO maintenance or clutch work.... Must have been only one from what I read in Steamboat.

Guess it depends on what oil your using. Most good quality oils have a pour point of -40 to -60 degrees F. Unless your riding in colder temps then what your oil is rated at it really doesnt make any difference. Eric

I've known several that did....maybe thats why you should serve cheese with your whining about seized engines. Pass the popcorn while these Shirleys popoff.

Who the heck wants to eat microwaved French fries, nasty.

Texasron, so your saying for 15 years polaris couldn't keep an 800 together and the answer was simply heated oil? Maybe you shoulda spoke up sooner and poo coulda added a bottle warmer or something. Woulda saved alot of folks and polaris alot of money over the years.

All you guys who were smartazzes .....Use only Walmart oil.

Oil won't have anything to do with clutch wear....andIf you're getting 5000 miles out of a sled clutch, I'd say you're just easy on stuff and that's why you've had good "luck." I would guess it's simply that you arent an animal, and take care of your stuff.

The thing with sleds is, most of the guys who complain the most and have bad "luck," are guys who also store their sleds under a tree with no cover, no maintenance, and hit stuff every time out. And are then immediately concerned about warranty...which they don't really understand how a warranty works. So it shows a disproportionate amount of failures on things like forums. Not that there's no exceptions to that....but there is a LOT of that in the sled world.

I have a 2002 700 xcsp edge X .would get 3000 miles with single pipe and drop new pistons and a hone in her for peace of mind , with the twin cpi or slp pipes a top end every 1500-2000 and it would all ways have a melted piston! never heated my oil .... never thought of it to b honest with ya. all ways used good oil. lots of mods, rode WOT all day in the moutons so I was not easy on her. blow out my clutches every other ride but I hade to fix bushings every 1000-1500 on the prim. have a heal clicker driven and it never needed played with.... well next to never

Thanks for a good laugh tex.
