Does anyone use castrol snowmobile oil?

A cousin of mine uses it in all his sleds, never had an engine breakdown yet and he never worries about them either.

I read a while back in one of Indy Dan's articles (Indy Specialties) that the Castrol 2T is the oil of choice for his sleds. He does not believe in the use of synthetic oils in 2 stroke sleds unless your riding in like -15 F or colder conditions (which you will never find me riding in those conditions).
I have been thinking of trying that oil but I will have to order it from somewhere since I have not found it locally yet. This year I switched from pure synthetic to the Polaris Blue (syn blend) oil. I have two exhaust valve sleds, one of them ran the Blue all last year and the other on Amsoil Interseptor. I recently pulled and cleaned the exhaust valves, the one running Blue was not at all any more carboned or gunked up than the other. So I switched to Blue in both sleds to give me better lubrication. I think the average guy could clean the exhaust valves once a year and be just fine running non-syn. oil.

I have been getting it at Napa, and ther guy i bought my sled from had the crank done by indy dan, and he said that indy dan told him to use that so I was just wondering what people thought about it. I figured if indy dan recomends it it must be alright, cause hes the one that warrentys his motors for 3 years.

Yep, that's right.

NAPA huh? I'll have to check there. I think they're open in my town again. Every one of their stores where closed for quite a while here. Tough times.
Thanks

Another one of indy dans customers and thats all i run. Exhaust valves need to be cleaned more often. I got a smoking deal on it last year 7 cents a quart so I bought 25 quarts. Checker was closing out all their castrol stuff, so i bought it all.

I was just wondering if there is any difference between the Costal motorcycle oil and Costal snowmobile. I can't find the snowmobile oil any were.

What I have been told is that THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN 2 STROKE OILS.
You need to use the type of oil that is formulated for the type of use in which you are using it for. I believe that one major difference is the pour characteristics of the oil, in other words how thick the oil is (viscosity?) in what average temperature range it will be used. I think this is very critical when used in oil injection systems rather than pre-mix (but i wouldn't use improper oil to mix either). If it's to thick it won't flow easily and would be hard on your pump.
I do not claim to be an expert here but just sharing what I have learned and read.

i started using castrol 2t in my edge x 600 1000miles ago..valves are clean on my sled although i heard u have to clean them more often... my sled did sieze up the other day but i had dropped 3 jet sizes and was running her pretty hard.. i was able to let it cool down..turned her over and fired right up.. threw a lil in the gas tank to compensate for how lean i made it and continued another 90miles back to the truck... id say its good stuff just on the part that it didnt lock up solid

i have always used castrol in my other sleds with no probs... i just switched not to castrol on my edge since the prev. owner only ran ves oil.. too costly for me and i know castrol works great:face-icon-small-coo

I have been running castrol T2 in both my polaris sleds, no problems and the exhaust valves stay pretty clean.
