dodge truck

i am looking at buying a 2006 dodge mega cab, 5.9 cummins 21,000miles. not up on problems for newer dodges. dont work in a private shop anymore. would not have bought one 7-10 years ago. has quality improved, trans diffs electriacl etc. have heard of frames bending on mega cabs with plows on them. is there any problems when towing. how do they tow, will be pulling a 35 foot goose neck with 8 sleds to alpine WY. like the truck because of the cab don't care about looks or brand, they all have there problems any info would be helpful thanks

You can bend the frame on any pickup with a snowplow if you hit something hard enough. Rather have a sister in a whorehouse than a brother in a Dodge. But I do like the mega cab for the space in that bad boy. And I'm sure in reality it is a decent enough pickup otherwise they wouldn't sell.

Have an 07 1/2 Mega Cab with the 6.7, 6sp auto. I love it, the cab is awesome and the reclining back seats are great. I pull a 17000lb 40' fifth wheel camper trailer with it and it pulls it really good. I am really impressed. It doesn't get the milage that my 03, 5.9 got, but I love the truck. I only have 24000 on it, but so far no problems at all.

I have an 06 Megacab, 3500 with the auto.

Great truck. I have only had one issue with it, and that was the transmission governor. Replaced under warranty, and seems to be working well. If you do get one, get an exhaust brake. I drove an 08 for a few days, and it had the 6 spd auto with exhaust brake. Worked flawlessly, and the stopping power is incredible. Not to mention it heats up the engine quicker...

This is my second Dodge, had a 96 (bought new) and kept it for 10 years, and the engine is rock solid.

i have an 02, brother has an 04 and two friends have the 06.everyone has been happy with the trucks.i drove an 06 with an auto to vegas a month ago from iowa. towed a 7,000 lbs trailer home and it pulled almost every hill in overdrive with good egts.tst powermax cr was set on 3hp and 3tq the whole trip.averaged 14.5 mpg driving 75-80 mph.its amazing what these trucks do in stock form.

Just don't get that 5 speed auto they had for a short time. They stuffed another gear set in their 4 speed. In 07 they offered 4 speed again behind the 5.9 until the new motor and new 6 speed auto came out.

I have a new 07 5.9 w/ 4spd auto. Gets 22mpg at 7800' non towing. Gets 18-19 overall in and out of 4wd in the snow pounding we got down here.

Worst I've gottten is 14mpg all non-highway towing my snowplow in deep snow day in day our trailer is around 3500# or so in deep snow 4wd.

Good luck.

I have an '06 Mega cab with the Auto tranny. I pull a 27' v-nose sled hauler and in the summer a 27' Searay cruiser. No issues so far and I love the room in the back seat. I have the 7 speaker Infinity stereo and it sounds great.
