Dodge cummins exhaust brake

Banks may be ok but typically they are a little on the spendy side. Pacbrake seems to the aftermarket brake of choice for Dodges that may not have their auto trannies rated for exhaust brakes. It seems there is a thrustwasher upgrade somewhere between 04-04.5-05 that enables one to use and exhaust brake without hurting the tranny. A guy would have to do some research and make some calls to the vendors to make a good decision. A guy named "jelag" on tdr.com is the Pacbrake guy. There is also a Jacobs brake rep that lives on that site.

ok thats good to know.

I have a 06 which apparently is the fisrt year one can use a brake with a auto, not sure ?

Yup, the Jacobs brake should be a bolt on on an '06 with no issues and good braking performance.

have the jacobs on my 06 auto 24000miles with it no problems pacbrake might be a little better though becaus of it ablitiy to keep the backpressure up in the lower rpms but i only paid 650 for mine on ebay thats why i have the jacobs

only cons of a jake brake is the map, iat sensor need cleaned once every 6 monthes to a year to keep good fuel mileage. I would try ebay as i see complete mopar setups on there all the time for 700 bucks for the complete kit. otherwise a bd would be my next choice.

I run a pacbrake on mine, once you drive a truck with one (especially pulling in the mtns) you will never wanna drive one without!
