I paid $256 for this entire year on my 15 RMK 800 LE on a seperate policy at age 19. How can you not?

You are getting hosed...

Wow I must be getting hosed on insurance or Canada is that much more expensive than the states. I pay $760/yr for full coverage on my 163 T3...
You are getting hosed - I pay $535 / yr for full coverage on a turbo sled in Alberta, including depreciation waiver. So if mine is written off, I'll get a cheque for $22,000. I run through Co-Operators.

$230 if you make payments, $190 if you pay in full,
full coverage for the entire year, had to use it last year as the sled was totalled, they even payed me extra for my aftermarket exhaust, and were going to cover any gear (cracked helmet, boots, gloves, jacket, anything that got ruined) I had nothing to claim in that department,
my policy stated all aftermarket parts would get reimbursed as long as you have receipts.

for some of you guys that are paying big money for insurance, you need to shop around, I checked with my car insurance company first figuring they can bundle it to be cheaper, they were $800 for one sled, shopped around and was able to find the above deal

Mine is just over $200/year. I have carried it for years and never used it. I have watched one of my friends crash his sled a couple of times. His ins never jacked him around, $4-5k claims each time, paid no problems. He claims the rates have never changed.

It is WAY to easy to crack one up. If I total one ever, that is over 50 years in premiums paid back. Easy gamble there, I will pay the scammers lol

As easy as it is to total or have a massive bill, you'd be nuts to not insure a sled. I had a 10k payout on one and 9k on another. I made out like a bandit fixing the sleds myself.

I pay $202 a year through State Farm in Colorado. Not only does it cover the sled, it covers liability, bodily injury, property damage and MEDICAL. It's easy enough to wreck a sled, let alone the personal injuries that may occur during the process. For those without insurance, it can get expensive quick if you total a sled and yourself.

BTW, had a nearly $3500 claim this year from hitting a hidden rock and my premium did not go up.

I pay about $70 per year for liability only through state Farm in Washington. I would think that you would want to cover yourself in the event that you somehow get blamed for an accident that killed someone. that could be a lot more expensive then your totaled sled. just my 2 cents.

No collision insurance on mine, it's just too expensive. 700-850 depending on options, plus your deductible if something happens. Just not worth it when my labor is free. We have few options in Manitoba, they're all in the same ballpark for expense.

how high are your premiums then? must be a pretty penny!

But what does that go to should you actually total a sled and have to use insurance? That's what I hate about insurance, if you use it, they screw you. I pack just liability on my two pickups. Given they aren't new or anywhere near it, but what I save not having full coverage will allow me to pay out of pocket should one get totalled. Then if you never use it, it will never go up. Insurance is a scam IMO

I made a claim for a sled 2 years ago that turned out to be totaled. my insurance saidd i can have a claim every 3 years and it won't go up. a friend of mine said his insurance told him he can claim one every 2 years.

$423 for two sleds (total for both), full coverage $500 Ded
1. 2012 Arctic M1100T
2. 2013 RMk 800

I have alot of insurance through this company though, and I am 50, and I have a really good credit rating, so that all affects the rate for the better

I just got a quick quote online and it was like 800 bucks for a year on just one new 2016 axys for LIABILITY!!!! I'm 25 so that doesn't help, but my god. I'm going to get a quote from my agent who I have my home owner's and vehicle insurance through. If it's reasonable (~200-250 a year) I will get it, but I'm not forking over that Kind of cash

I have a 12 PRO 800 and a 14 PRO 600 and they're both about 600/yr full coverage at a 500 deductible. not too bad it'll really pay off of anything happens to the sleds!

Shop around I have a horrible driving record and got quotes from $189.00 per sled to $850.00 per sled. I am with Allstate now on the sleds only they were way to high on my vehicles and boat. I don't understand why it's this way??
I guess some underwriters love sleds and some don't.

COMPLETE BULL$HIT.
If that were the case most people would have a new sled every two or three years, same for cars, houses, and just about everything else! I suggest that he / you go ahead and try it ... go on ... wreck a new sled ... collect and then try it again in 2 or 3 years ... see what happens.
Insurance companies would not be able to stay in business at that rate.

As for me, public liability, fire & theft.

I have liability, fire, theft, and coverage if it gets messed up during transport (i.e. in the back of my truck, on a trailer, etc).

That was somewhere in the $350 range for a new sled in BC. Full coverage was ~$600 or a bit more, which wouldn't be a bad idea, but you've gotta draw the line somewhere with this sport.

Before you claim BS....... I have had 2 different times where I had 2 claims in 2 or 3 years and my premiums weren't affected. I had '99 and '00 sled claims for @6-7k each and then my '11 was just over 10k and my '13 was 8-9k. I still enjoy good rates even though I've gotten the occasional speeding tickets.
