You are getting hosed - I pay $535 / yr for full coverage on a turbo sled in Alberta, including depreciation waiver. So if mine is written off, I'll get a cheque for $22,000. I run through Co-Operators.Wow I must be getting hosed on insurance or Canada is that much more expensive than the states. I pay $760/yr for full coverage on my 163 T3...
As easy as it is to total or have a massive bill, you'd be nuts to not insure a sled. I had a 10k payout on one and 9k on another. I made out like a bandit fixing the sleds myself.
how high are your premiums then? must be a pretty penny!
But what does that go to should you actually total a sled and have to use insurance? That's what I hate about insurance, if you use it, they screw you. I pack just liability on my two pickups. Given they aren't new or anywhere near it, but what I save not having full coverage will allow me to pay out of pocket should one get totalled. Then if you never use it, it will never go up. Insurance is a scam IMO
$313yr w/ $100 comp $200 coll. deductible with 100k/300k liability coverage
I just got a quick quote online and it was like 800 bucks for a year on just one new 2016 axys for LIABILITY!!!! I'm 25 so that doesn't help, but my god. I'm going to get a quote from my agent who I have my home owner's and vehicle insurance through. If it's reasonable (~200-250 a year) I will get it, but I'm not forking over that Kind of cash
I made a claim for a sled 2 years ago that turned out to be totaled. my insurance saidd i can have a claim every 3 years and it won't go up. a friend of mine said his insurance told him he can claim one every 2 years.
COMPLETE BULL$HIT.
If that were the case most people would have a new sled every two or three years, same for cars, houses, and just about everything else! I suggest that he / you go ahead and try it ... go on ... wreck a new sled ... collect and then try it again in 2 or 3 years ... see what happens.
Insurance companies would not be able to stay in business at that rate.
As for me, public liability, fire & theft.
