Some people just don't "get it".
They have no idea how darn addicting it is!

This is the same crowd that gets excited about 2" of fresh snow!:D

Grew up in flatland country and used to get excited about a few new fresh inches. Got addicted to riding mountains a dozen or so years ago and finally just moved west. Been trying to get some of my old ridin buds to come out and try it. One finally did last week, hit it right on the nutz, showed up at Tog in a white out with a 800 159" and rode three days of stackin it up on the hood snow. Pretty sure he is hooked, hope all the ole boys see those pics!!!

I live in MN and no longer own a short track....I have no reason to ride the flats after being to the mountains

I hear ya!
We get 2" of fresh snow & my buddy asks if I went out riding......
I reply......."On what?"

Got a neighbor that went out riding/hunting with us yesterday on his new '06 700RMK and it rode him alot, he couldn't ride it unless we were on flat ground. Had to show him how to ride that tank, it is stock. Narrow skis suck, lol.

Don't have any friends but if I did they would ride the deep and steep!

wow nighttrain, need to take this to the extreme,,,,come move to alaska...you can ride every weekend for the rest of your life and never ride the same hill twice............

Nightrain, I used to live near Orlando and used to ride my tractor cutting grass and daydreamt about cutting trail instead. Sold all my stuff, moved back to the Valley and lived happily ever after....:D

Holy crap oont, $1200/trip, expensive.

PAST YEARS WE WOULD PAY ALOT MORE FOR SLED RENTALS TILL I GOT THE HOOKUP...

try me and the wife at peak season, staying in a full size cabin!!
this was in january and all the past 6 years:

i just started up the leaf blower and blew off the patio.. mmmmmmm... the smell of 2 stroke!!! :)

Well believe it or not there are actually places to ride powder that aren't in the mountains....::):

Our elevations would be little foothills for most of you (700-1500 feet) but we do get anywhere from 200-300 inches on average per year. We get lake effect snow mostly which is very light and fluffy. We still have climbing to do, just not even anywhere remotely close to as extreme as it gets out west.

We do lots of boondocking, riding logging roads and most climbs are hardwood forests with tight trees. Short but kinda technical climbs. Still very fun and beats trail riding anyday. No avy's to worry about, but nowhere near the terrain most of you have.

Yup! Have 3 friends that live in Chi town where I grew up. Used to ride together all the time. Been out west for over 10 yrs now and only one of them has been out here riding. He's been out 3 times, 1 day each time, and I think it must've scared the chit out of him each time, 'cause the excuses keep getting more lame every year!

I would love 2" of fresh snow, well maybe 4" as then I could be in the sno-cat.

Most of my riding buddies have gone over to the mountain sled scene but this year it just seems more and more difficult to get everyone together for another ride. Some have bought houses, some have got married and sucked up vacation time already and others simply just don't have a lot of motivation.

I know a group that travels all the way from minnesota in search of flatlands with snow around Island Park. The most hilarious part of this gang is the fact that they all have long track big cc mountain sleds. To each their own!!

Looks like some great snow there gitcheegumme. No all of us ride mountains.

ditto to that, but I still have a need for a bit of midwest riding.

Will be headed to the Yooper this Friday for a short weekend, we should be able to find some of that stuff up there as long as they get some fresh this week.

Optimistic dee thinks it should be good, that makes me a bit nervous as it's usually just the oposite.
